I don't think the shot was aimed at the head/neck, but rather at the chest (aka center mass), where Charlie was wearing a vest, which is why the shirt popped. Unfortunately, it was the wrong type of vest.

He needed something to conceal the rifle tucked under his arm? He grabbed what was available to him. My guess is he cased the campus to view where the stage would be and to find a sniping location. He probably broke off the lock to roof access and stashed the rifle covered in a towel on the roof. When he fled he wrapped it in the towel but realized that wasn't adequate to conceal it so he dropped it as soon as he could. If people would stop insisting on examining this based on what a pro hitman would do his actions wouldn't seem so strange

My take is the dudes adrenaline was pumping. He fired the shot and wanted to get out of dodge asap and just took the gun with him. After all when your adrenaline is pumping your mind is doing its own thing. Once he was away he realized he's got to ditch the gun. It is broad daylight and he doesn't want to be seen with the gun. He wasn't a "pro" at all. no way in hell. He was just filled with adrenaline. As for the shot placement, I believe his sights couldve been off, maybe it was only sighted for 100yards not 150+yrds, adrenaline, nerves, etc leading to slightly missed but lucky in his eyes placement. .

Last night was rough. Saw a lot of so called friends turn into bloodthirsty monsters, lacking humanity. I was told that I'm a sad reminder Sherman didn't finish the job, and a bigot several times.

We have to realize there's a large contingent on the left that thinks political violence is okay. And they're only getting bolder.

And I just sat there kind of numb again. I knew it had happened of course but the next day is like a cold slap when you realize it all over again.

It was a difficult evening and morning for my wife and I. I am not much older than Charlie, and our children are about the same age. While we shared many of the same beliefs, it was always amazing to me how he always seemed so unoffendable when having debates with the other side. He always seemed to "lovingly" disagree with the person and respectfully countered their arguments. I admired the way he was able to do that, and could tell he was a great man, husband and father. I guess between the assassination itself and the hate I saw spewed towards him really took a toll. I probably should not have been surprised at all the terrible and vile things I saw celebrating his death, but I was totally shocked. I thought this world was perhaps better than that. my heart really aches for my children growing up in this world of hate.
