Aside from the government waste so much for "waste, fraud and abuse" over the years, several posters have said that one of the only federal government's role is to defend our borders. In other words, Department of Defense makes more sense anyways.

I like the idea of calling the Department of Defense during peacetime and the Department of War during times Congress has declared war. Has a nice national mobilization feel to it.

I have no problem with Trump exercising radical common sense in controlling terms and definitions e.g. the Gulf of America or the War Department. It serves an important purpose.
