In Oklahoma the state standards mandate teaching that Trump actually won in 2020. Its a good thing they're fixing the real problems of reading and math and not indoctrinating children with political propaganda. Proof is in the pudding.

That's not true.

Quote:

The social studies standard for high school U.S. history references baseless claims about the ballot counting process and the security of mail voting.

It says students must "Identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities and in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of 'bellwether county' trends."

Gee, this publication isn't biased at all.

I remember when "thank God for Mississippi" used to be a thing. MS is now ranked 16th in education despite one of the lowest levels of per pupil spending. A commitment to basics and ruthless execution rather than throwing up our hands or blaming liberals (Walters) seems to be a better solution. As for the porn debacle

You get better teachers by making them take some kind of oath that the government approves? You know who you aren't going to attract? Good teachers that want to teach instead of the government being up their ass all day.

Sounds like re-education. Amazing how the gospel of big government is embraced by the GOP flock as soon as they have the power to use it.

Well, Democrats have been using public schools and taxpayer money to indoctrinate students for decades. This is just a comparitively small effort to take back some lost ground and require that the truth about this country be taught instead of the anti-social, anti-American drivel that has been so prevalent. It shouldn't be some novel idea. I'm personally glad to see Republicans start using Democrat tactics against them instead of pretend fighting with one hand tied behind their backs.

In other words, you really have no moral problem with education systems bending the knee to authoritarianism, as long as it's YOUR autocrat that gets to set the rules.

The teachers are being required by Oklahoma to pass an assessment of basic knowledge and facts about this the United States before receiving a license to teach in their state. Sounds like a licensing exam to me, same as most states do for dozens of other professions. Oklahoma is well within their rights to require this before granting the license. Their state, their rules. If you are against licensing in general for all professions, then I understand your argument.

The natural state is that the more government gets involved the worse the outcome.

And the more dependent people become on government, the more divided they will become. That's the cost of big government no one talks about.

Just how many teachers from those states are relocating to Oklahoma in the first place? Sounds like a waste of time and energy. I figure Texas will follow right behind as soon as Trump or the billionaires that run Austin tell someone to.

That's impressive that MS is ranked so high now. Whatever they're doing, other states should look into following.
they are doing the 3r's and phonics. Also not passing kids through who don't meet the requirements for advancement - crazy stuff that us older folks were taught when we were coming up

By the way I'm pretty liberal and bet I would answer the same as you on all the questions you mentioned. It's been pretty blow out of proportion how much we actually care about those issues. They've been used to colonize the far right. Guess what, we don't want boys in women's sports either.

I'm just pointing out how they should probably be questioned on any policy decisions as they've shown an amazing ability at prioritizing the wrong things.

Hate speech, the left just cancelled you. They just charge boys in their own locker room with sexual harassment for telling a girl that's been convinced she's a boy to leave because she was taking video. They charged the boys in their own locker room when a girl walked in a video tapped them. What the **** are you talking about? Not reality, maybe for you but not the left.

They are trying to destroy a version of the country you like. As both sides get further and further away from compromise both sides think the other is intentionally trying to do harm. You may actually be right.

Take this move by Oklahoma, it will provide absolutely zero value since we know teachers are licensed and educated already, but it will piss off the left, which was the only actual goal. Talk about unproductive.
