100% right that was wrong But you are somehow OK with that exact activity going on through the border so your party can get more votes so I don't believe you are sincere about those sentiments.
What more votes are your talking about. The. Census is based on everyone in the country not just citizens.
If only is citizens are used Texas, Florida and California lose one. Ohio, Minnesota and Alabama gain one.
It's a net wash but a great false position!!!
Open borders just made no sense, and it was not the policy of even prior democratic administrations.
- It won't change congressional apportionment significantly.
- It harms national security.
- It harms infrastructure in both predictable and unpredictable ways (diseases, education, health care, law enforcement, etc)
- It deflects from structured immigration plans to recruit workers, offset our declining birthrates, and foments anti-immigration rhetoric
- Most people were against it.
Even if some backdoor future amnesty was part of the plan, it wouldn't affect elections that much, and bipartisan immigration reform could have brought the same number of people here legally.
It reminds me of China's Zero Covid policy. It just made no sense. Terrible miscalculations in both cases.
All that said, I don't like the fact that people blame immigrants for what's ailing this country, by pointing to every violent crime committed by a group of 15 million people. I could say more, but it's easier to just recommend everyone watch The Village. It's a pretty good movie.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough
