It's not withholding disaster relief funds.

And if you have stipulations with money you are providing someone, that is not coercion. You can simply decide not to accept the funds.

Is it coercion to tell you kid not to spend allowance money on drugs or you won't get any more allowance.

You seem to be operating under the assumption that the federal government just "has" money and spends it as it sees fit. In reality, the federal government has money from taxing its population. So your analogy of a parent giving kids an allowance does not work.

From the OP, there are "disaster preparedness funds" part of "routine funding" of grants for communities to prepare programs or studies about being better prepared for disasters.

You continue to act like this is grandma clampett not getting rescued from the river unless she gives her kidney to a Jewish person.

These requirements have been a part of funding for many years. For decades there have been anti-boycott programs. In 2018, it became a bit more formal. But whether it's been called out in procurements and/or contracts has been hit or miss.

But the faux outrage is noted. Just so long as we get that rascal Trump once and for all.

Again, it helps to actually understand the topic.

Fine, do loans with a bank.

Do a scholarship for school.

Or be obtuse.

Confused as usual. The federal govt has money from the citizens it taxes. The federal government works for the citizens (in theory at least). The way our country is set up in the Constitution, THE PEOPLE, are sovereign. The federal government is supposed to work for us. Not for Israel

The government is not a parent, I'm not a lib that believes in a nanny state. In this situation, the federal government robs citizens through taxation and then says "You can't have pennies back during a disaster because your local/state government chose to not do business with this specific country". This is coercion by threatening to withhold said stolen money unless they change who they do business with.

In the end it doesn't matter anymore because the govt realized how stupid a decision it was in the first place. I'm glad that at least Trump listens to criticism sometimes.

Why, they changed a reference regarding a term that made specific mention of Israel. Policy remains as it was existing policy, which has been said over and over er again and a website linked.

Exact situation came up back with Hurricane Ike funding and the wording removed the specificity to Israel and pointed back to the anti-boycott and discrimination measures, but requirements remain). I remember because we had to discussions on this and then had to sign amended contracts.

Quote:

DHS oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA in grant notices posted on Friday said states must follow its "terms and conditions" to qualify for disaster preparation funding.

Those conditions required that they not support what the agency called a "discriminatory prohibited boycott," a term defined as refusing to deal with "companies doing business in or with Israel." The new terms, opens new tab, posted later on Monday, do not include that language.

Policy remains.

It's disaster preparedness, routine funding.

But you and the other guy don't like facts.

Yeah I condemn the policy. Terrible policy and not America First. Nobody voted for that

If you voted for Trump, you voted for Project 2025. In which this was in the plans.

So yes you did vote for it.

Trump says "you have to follow Federal anti-discrimination laws to get Federal money" and the usual suspects lose their minds.

Those laws apply to individuals in this country. They are irrelevant in the case of a state boycotting another country.

You stated nobody voted for this. Which is incorrect and if you as a general voter voted for Trump, you voted for this policy with Israel. Not talking about you as an individual.

Nothing says "America First" like denying disaster aid to Americans because their state/local governments don't pledge fealty to a bad state actor responsible for 205 casualties of U.S. servicemen and the killing of 34 sailors.

If boycotting Israel companies for American competitors, then you have a point.

But if they are sunshine pumping Ukraine, or Gaza, or any European nonsense, then they don't really have a leg to stand up on.

Either way, the fed picking winners regarding disaster relief is dumb and the process needs to be reigned in regardless.

So...it was criminal when Biden .gov employees withheld aid based on political beliefs, but now that its being done to people with other ideologies, its fine?

You've pretty much summed up the concept of this board.

Trump disavowed "project 2025" numerous times when he was was campaigning. You said I "voted for this" which was incorrect. Take the L and try again another time.

Nah I didn't vote for Trump in 2024 after I saw he took big money from zionist billionaires like Miriam Adleson and Bill Ackman. I figured that would influence his policy into an Israel First position. So far, it seems like I was correct

With all due respect, Israel is our ally and the Dems tacitly supported Israel while subversively enabling Hamas.

I have ZERO issue with him drawing a line in the sand on this….long overdue.

That's fantastic for you. But that's not what this thread is concerning. This is a weird non sequitur but I'll allow it because I can see you are passionate, if not confused.

Picking disaster preparedness funds is probably not the wisest move. Do something to hurt the dems. Squeeze them and make them hurt. That's the only way.

Not confused at all, o wise one. You do realize the State of Texas has had procurement provisions in place for a long time for companies that boycott Isreal. https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/GV/htm/GV.2271.htm I'm sorry that your apparent hate for Isreal is getting in the way of sound decision making.
