I know you all are going to give me a hard time on this one but...
I'm scratching me head on this one.
Especially if it was a STEM teacher.
I'll hang up and listen.
He has no legitimate claim for asylum and he would have known that.torrid said:TexAgs91 said:
Why did a tourist have a job teaching?
According to his attorney, he applied for asylum and has a work permit.

You really want this to be your poster boy?Fernando Alves-Rocha, 45, is a citizen of Brazil arrested by @EROSeattle in Monroe, WA. Alves entered the U.S. in 2018 under a tourist visa which he overstayed, and is wanted by law enforcement authorities in Brazil for theft. Lotsa "white man's burden" sentiment even from TexAggers. The feeling that a brown/black needs to be allowed into one's home just because they are downtrodden and we are lucky and the chosen ones.

If you overstay a visa anywhere on Earth, you get the boot.
Job prospects for STEM and computer grads are crashing. This opens up a job for an actual American ciitzen.
If you deport yourself, that would open up a second.

My daughter is currently working in a different country on a 1 year work visa.
Guess what happens when her visa is up? Her options are apply for an extension, or leave the country.
Because the good old USA is the only country dumb enough to not enforce those kinds of laws.

1. TOURIST visa overstay
2. Had to lie to school to even get hired since he did not have a valid WORK visa.
3. Did not reapply for a Work Visa
4. Teaching Theater
5. Brazil is NOT an asylum country.
Really no brainer here, if you even mention you are looking for work while going through Heathrow you will get detained. Most countries are very strict about tourist looking for work.
This is not a mountain to die on and really should not even be a story.

It's up to 8 now, which is downright sad where we have that many supposedly college educated people that are that dumb.
