When you apply for Asylum, you are issued an EAD (employment authorization document) and SS card since you are allowed to remain pending the final outcome of your asylum claim and obviously must support yourself in the interim.

This is why Trump previously required them to remain in Mexico pending the outcome of their asylum claim, but Biden ended that policy.

Sounds like he came here on a tourist visa during the Trump administration. After it expired and after the Biden admin started allowing hoards of people coming into this country to claim asylum, he was already here illegally on an expired tourist visa and was able to do this?
