This. Anyone who wants government grocery stores needs to read about when Yeltsin visited a grocery store here in Houston.

A more recent version is the Cuban at a Home Depot.
Viktor Belenko, the Soviet pilot who flew his (at the time) secret MiG 25 fighter to Japan and defected to the US, had the same experience. He asked his CIA escort to stop at a random supermarket they happened to be driving past, figuring that our government couldn't have pre-stocked it with groceries to impress him. He walked into the store and was finally, irrevocably convinced that communism was all a lie.

*are undefeated.

Nope. Economics is a singular noun ending in "s".

Physics, economics, athletics all require a singular verb.

It can be both singular & plural. His statement can clearly be paraphrased as "Economic Principles are undefeated."

Nice try though, but I'm never wrong.

When you are referring to Economics as a Topic of Study or an Academic discipline it is singular; when you refer to Economic Principles the word Economics becomes Plural. Clearly he didn't mean "Economics as a field of study is never wrong."

Bout tree fiddy. I realized the guy had an Ag Tag, and was a bit offended at how my Alma Mater was being represented.

Austin has been trying to open one for the last half decade or more and can't get it off the ground.

It's just a massive money suck

Yet amazingly, with private capital, you'll see a Dollar General in every podunk town or wide spot in the road out in the middle of nowhere.

It turns out a simplified bare bones operation with fully stocked shelves, strategically located and built cheap is a winner.

I don't even need to look to guarantee they don't build them anywhere close to areas where shoplifting is a concern. A business cannot survive long when they are "giving " stuff away left and right. This should not be difficult to understand. I despise a damn thief, absolutely despise them.

Seems most Dollar Generals are semi-rural or in small isolated areas where folks still work for a living and know right from wrong.

We used to be a nation that largely took the best, brightest and most ambitious. The left clearly wants to dumb us down so they can more easily usher in their "utopia". Open borders, ruined inner cities, public schools are abysmal...all by design.

Unfortunately, we also used to be a nation that imported and bred a ton of slaves, and thus created a perpetual underclass that we're still stuck with today.

Generally speaking, food deserts exist because grocery stores have decided that their stores aren't safe or their "loss" is too great to be profitable. What those areas need is greater police presence, not some "government" store that's going to lose a ton of cash.

It is not police protection that is the problem but the prosecution of criminals that are just released a day after they are arrested.

In quite a few lib run cities, shoplifting is not a major crime.

Hell, in many lib states, they essentially decriminalized shoplifting so long as you stay under certain amounts.

Then add on that most liberal da's either won't prosecute at all or reach lenient deals or liberal judges will release offenders and you get a system that ****s regular folks

It's an attempt to portray shelflessness.

Why address the root cause, when you can squander taxpayer money instead?

Friend of mine who lives in New York City is all excited about government run grocery stores. All I could do was tell him bless his heart. Didn't have on my bingo card a major city going the way of Soviet Russia.

If you want more fresh food, grow a vegetable garden. It's not that hard. It does require physical work, but a very small garden will net more food than you could possibly eat. You can eat all you can, share some with others, and can/freeze enough to get through the winter months, all the way up to the next year when your garden starts producing again.

You lost most libs at that "physical work" part

Yea they grew that bountiful garden up in Seattle that time when they set up camp. Oops, liberals aren't good at that either.

And it takes personal responsibility to water, tend, and harvest. That's strikes 2, 3, and 4 for the standard liberal.

Back before I was dying, I had no problem preserving foods. It was quite simple.

Now, not so easy
