unfortunately for all of us, but fortunately for Trump in his grading scale, his second term succeeds probably the worst president in our nearly 2.5 centuries of history.

A+

What he has done, even though I don't like all of it, is incredible. As someone above said, more in 6 months than most in 4 years.

Just because he hasn't fixed everything on everyone's lists shouldn't limit him.

If you want to give him an INC, I would agree but for 6 months, he's been outstanding.

Question for those of you who give him a B/C, do you give every other president an F for their full term?

The idea is to rate him for progress in 6 months. Obviously he won't have completed a whole lot, but he should be on his way.

He has COMPLETELY shut down the border. I think I heard him claim the other day that the month of June saw ZERO illegal crossings. I can't imagine that can be true, but even if not, it has drastically stopped. That's huge in my book. The rest of the stuff is pretty meh. He lost a lot of favor with me when he retreated and said "well, some illegal immigrants can stay, but some can't."
It's not that there were zero illegal crossings. It's that there were zero illegals released into the country in June. The previous month it was something like 8. Last May it was over 23,000.

I hope he is smart enough to not shock the market like he did in March/Apr and make it seem like everything is crashing. He can still have his tariffs but do it in slow increments so the market is not spooked. He was an idiot the last time and almost ruined us all.

it's probably a matter of time because of Biden's handlers and Mayorkas, but weird time and place to bring this up.

Closing the border: B. Sure he's done excellent for stopping the flow of illegals but what bout the wall? It needs to be COMPLETED during his term which will at least be a permanent obstacle.

Deporting illegals: he's done more than any other president I've seen in my lifetime, but it's not enough. He needs to raise those deportation numbers up at least an order of magnitude to deport anywhere near 10 million illegals.

Draining the swamp: D. He seems to have all the right people in place but nothing is happening.

Economy: B ( A on the tarrifs, D on cutting the debt, B on everything else)

Foreign Policy, mideast: A
Foreign policy, Ukraine/Russia: B

Nasa: D for dumbass - letting Jarred Issaccman go and slashing Nasa's budget.

Ending Joe Biden's reign of terror: A+

I won't be paying much attention to this on July 20th. That's Moon Landing Day!
I've always considered the wall an expensive boondoggle. While it may impart partial discouragement, it isn't going to really stop much in the long run and will be a maintenance problem for a long time.

By far the best and cheapest way to solve the problem is to remove all the incentives for crossing illegally and imparting real consequences for doing so. Trump is doing a great job on that. We won't need a wall if nobody wants to risk crossing the border.

Immigration - B, until he supported amnesty for certain groups, he was an A+.

Fiscal - F, things are still getting more and more expensive (govt inflation numbers are a joke, still), no real spending cuts or tax cuts (keeping the current rate is "Meh!", actually cut taxes more for everyone) BuildBackBetter2 is a joke. Gut regulations. Tariffs are liberal idiocy.

Foreign Policy- A

Overall, C-

Like before, he's "Meh!" and lacks leadership, in general.
Care to revise that grade?

Why should he revise? President Trump doesn't have a very stellar record when it comes to running his mouth and subsequent action.

He sure does run his mouth a lot in an unstatesmanlike manner seemingly without much care for tact or couth. At the same time, he's done more of what he said he was going to do than any American political figure in our lifetimes,. ....so there's that.

He started well with a lot of publicity and big statements from Homan but news has died down. They may be working under the covers rather than to make the headlines.

Thoughts?

ICE just hit a big park in LA a couple days ago that had LA's mayor crying to the media, and they've hit multiple sites in Florida as well.

The media isn't reporting it as much because doing so makes Trump stronger.

Whay should he have downgraded in the first place based on Trump's words alone? You just said that he doesn't follow through on half the stuff he says.

Why not keep the grade an A based on what as actually happened instead of some thinking-out-loud comment. I just posted more words that say the opposite. So, if words instead of actions are your measure, why discount what's said on the one hand and not value what's said on the other?

The betting markets are now predicting $10 trillion in new debt after his term ends. It's better than a coin flip odds right now.

Higher prices. They are now expecting 2.5-2.6% inflation YoY for June.

Which is so ridiculous because it is one of the easiest things to dismantle. We have yet to see inflation. Inflation only comes from an increase in the money supply, driven by federal spending.

Ok, so a good increasing in cost is not inflation. If I am required to spend more on a good due to a tariff, that means I have less to spend on other goods. That means no inflation. Inflation only comes from an increase in the money supply due to federal spending.

PS - show me one time where this current Fed has been right in their projections/dot plots.

Sigh, not this **** again! Call it what you want. Higher prices.

Powell disagrees with you:

"In written remarks, Powell said the economic impact of the tariffs is "significantly larger than expected" and predicted they are "highly likely" to cause at least a temporary spike in inflation though he acknowledged the effects could prove more lasting."

Powell has been wrong on inflation his entire term. Unbelievable.

Answer me this, if I have less money to spend on other goods due to increase in cost of some goods, how does that create inflation?

Ok, an ad hom fallacy.

Is Bessent wrong on his definition? He claims no inflation from tariffs. Why would he say that if they can't cause inflation?

If the tariffs are broad enough, which they are, the entire basket of goods and services used in the CPI can rise in price. These tariffs are not limited to beenie babies.

Because the media has been using that line non-stop. If you are using .10 - .20 move on core inflation to spike the football, then you aren't serious.
