Colossal pullback in 2026, recovery 2027 and collapse of dollar in 2030-2035 timeframe.
You may not be a moron, but some people think you are.

In 1998, I was sure it would be in the next ten years.

Our ability to duct tape and baling wire this thing is beyond my comprehension. But when it does crash, we will all wish I was right back in 1998, because the longer it is allowed to teeter, the bigger the crash will be.

2027.

It will be precipitated by China's move against Taiwan and spiral out of control from there. Even if we do not get into a shooting war with China, the economic blockade/war, along with general investor fear, will cause a depression in the U.S. if not the entire world.
You can't fix stupid.

No offense but how tf do you think we can get to 2040? The leverage ratio of our country is roughly 7x.. if we don't cut 3-4 trillion from the budget, it's over in the next few years.

Not in my lifetime. Our economy crashes, so does the rest of the world. Not happening.

It will start in the rest of the world and eventually spread here. If it hasn't already. Remember the P.I.G.S. the imf and USA bailed out anyone? Who thinks they have repaid that debt and made significant changes?

I remember his prediction of 2027. Whatever happened to him?

It won't be a waterfall. It'll be a gradual decline.

They'll have to issue more and more debt at higher interest rates which the Fed will be forced to buy, thus causing inflation. The dollar will be weaker relative to other currencies which means we pay more for imports.

GDP will pretty much be nil.

They'll have to cut spending at some point, they'll have no choice. Taxes will also be raised.

Reserve currency status will be at risk.

The good news is that the oldest boomers are 82. The Grim Reaper will assist in reducing the spend over the next two decades

Has to be living off the grid at this point, he may be right, but he was very doom and gloom about our economy.

That doesn't sound terrible if that is the case worst case.

The only thing that should be a non starter is raising taxes. Who would they raise them on? A small subset of taxpayers already pay almost all of it.

Agree with this. The collapse and another Great Depression-style period happens around the 2030-2035 timeframe.

If we lose reserve currency status, it will happen very rapidly. But I don't see another currency stepping up to the plate. That's our only saving grace.

As a boomer, I agree. I hope I'm out of here before I can't deal with our collapse anymore.

slightly off topic...

but when the collapse occurs...will the pro sports and college sports bubbles finally burst?

e.g. there won't be 100,000 people at a college football game paying high prices

or NFL QB's making $40 MM per year

This pessimism about a country I love is disheartening. It's downright comical that this same pessimism suggests history would hold President Trump to blame for destroying the USA, and thus making the crazy libs to appear that they were right all along.
