Our legislature man...Can you imagine if dems were large and in charge what would be happening in Texas? They take advantage when they're in power. We don't.

There are too many people who lie about being conservative and get into the House. They're despicable traitors to the people of Texas.

This is such an old and tired argument.
Do they pull these out of the attic and blow the dust off?

Quote:

Opponents of the bill argued that the bill would lead to racial profiling in minority communities. State Rep. Ramon Romero Jr., D-Fort Worth, spoke about the impact he believed it would have on his community.

"A young man may get pulled or may get stopped just simply for jogging and not carrying his ID, and I can say that it offends me because this has happened to my own son," Romero said.

I no longer believe that it's a problem of people pretending to be conservative against the GOP's wishes.

I now firmly believe that the GOP does not want to be a true conservative party and they view it as there are too many actual conservatives. I believe they prefer a small contingent of conservatives (Freedom caucas) with a large majority of conservatives in name only (Republicans) since the term Republican is no longer synonymous with conservative.

Yes, since it was proposed as a Constitutional ammendment to go to Texas voters, it required a 2/3 vote or 100 members to vote for it. It got 93 votes.

Rino's are a problem, but the Democrats own this one 100%. Let's see how it works out for them.

From my understanding, one more vote will be held on this today.

Wonder how he would feel if his son was killed by a drunk driving illegal or one evading LEO.

I read what the Dem Rep. from Ft. Worth said about minority profiling, that even his own son was stopped while jogging.

OK……I'd be unhappy if my son was stopped because he was hispanic (assuming that's really what happened……..or even if it did happen) but I don't see how this law is really going to effect profiling anyways.

So basically this guys feelings are more important than the safety of all Texans. Just friggin great!!

This is the platform of the Democratic Party/Left. I have nothing but contempt for them and those that vote them into power. And I loathe the politicians that espouse conservative principles and then fail to vote that way once in office.

I'm not saying it's the most important thing, but something should be done. Before a recent move, our old next door neighbors rented out their 4/3 home. There were no fewer than 7 people living there...we never really could get an exact number...all caucasian college dudes with their own car. And on game weekends, that car number would double and often spill over in to the next week. After many calls to the cops when things got out of hand, as well as the city, we complained to the owner, and it turned out there were only 4 who had signed the lease and the rest were paying rent just to crash there. The owner should have been fined out the eyeballs for not keeping track of what was happening at his property.

I would like to see that the jurisdiction that releases a person on bail that then goes on to commit another crime has to pay the cost of conviction and incarceration. This would be a signficant drain on cities like Houston that lets their bonded out criminals travel all over the region, committing more crimes and letting those jursidictions pay to put them away.

So you think no one but students matter and they have the right to destroy property values and drive families from their homes because that is what is going to happen.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

I was a student in the 80s renting a house (my roommate was actually listed as the owner on the deed). We were guilty of this to some extent, but not nearly this bad. Biggest issue we had was that one roommate had to park on the street (Munson) that was kind of busy, and his car got damaged a couple of times. He started parking in the yard, and we started getting nastygrams from city code enforcement. We called the city explaining our predicament, asking if they could increase patrols to address speeding on Munson, and were basically blown off.

That said, I didn't know how pervasive this issue was until I actually lived and worked there as a non-student.

The legislation went in the opposite direction. My understanding is it will make it illegal to have ordinances that prevent 4 or more non relatives living together. So get ready for that x10 anywhere near campus (I think Bryan might be exempt so just the college station side)

It depends on who you are calling "the GOP." The politicians? I am sure you're right. The voters? I think they do want the GOP to be conservative, but most people do not pay enough attention to see whose words and actions match.

SpreadsheetAg and I were state GOP delegates at a Republican convention several years back, and the delegates were overwhelmingly against Joe Strauss being speaker because we knew he was a fraud. Nobody was confused about who he was. Delegates booed the **** out of him. Yet, several cycles later, and those same democrats are still manipulating the system to hold power and lock conservatives out of control.

We need to primary out the 36 "R"s that voted for Burrows over the GOP Caucus Nominee Cook.

Another list to target is the "R"s that voted opposite to more Republicans than Democrats:

Having someone who is not me screw up my property is not "part of living in a college town." I wouldn't put up with it if it was you living next door. Why should I have to when Ayden, Aiden, Braeden, Caden, Caeden, Kaeden, Layton and Phoenix do?
