Or fresh gulf shrimp.

Never had the wine or the cactus.

So, I scored as a Texas Flag-Waving Texan,

though I was born in New Jersey (shhhh...I don't admit that to too many people)

grew up in Reno (I was Nevada's version of Daniel LaRusso)

and currently reside in California via a significant, and formative, portion of my life spent in Hawaii.

I'm like an adopted son

Mesquite jelly? That seems a little too niche.

I've lived in Texas my whole life and had nearly everything on that list other than cactus, roasted pine nuts (that I know of), and mesquite jelly.

Of those three, I don't think I ever heard of mesquite jelly until today.

I grew up in NJ but got here as fast as I could. What is green Chile stew? That is the only one I have not had besides Bluebonnet wine. I have had pork tomatillo stews/chili.

And re grapefruit, I used to work for Extension and when the guys would return from a trip to the valley, there would be a huge net bag of grapefruit on my desk.

Also, BAN COMIC SANS

For those that haven't tried cactus, just go to your local taqueria for breakfast and get yourself some huevos con nopalitos. Nopal is cactus, and it's easier to find than you probably think. Though that is usually pickled cactus. Fresh cactus is a bit harder to come by in restaurants.

Agree. I'll give you a pass on blue crabs from lack of meat and TX oysters because they taste like crap compared to LA ones, but I love fried gulf coast fish of all varieties.

I would also add:
1. Pecans picked up off the ground from under the tree that you crack open with your own hands (or place on the concrete and gently crack open with your heel).
2. Watermelon growing under the nest of trees between two of the fields you are working that makes a cool treat on a hot July afternoon when you're taking a break. Cut open with your own pocket knife.
3. Blueberries and blackberries that you just plucked off the branch....also on a hot summer afternoon while taking a break from farming.
4. Pickles made from the cucumbers grown in your own garden.
5. Crawdads you plucked out of their holes yourself.
6. Corn on the cob that you just picked from your own field and shucked yourself on the front porch.
7. Squash and zucchini from your own garden

A few items I might have had, just never heard them referred to by those names, or I don't recall eating them as a kid.

Definitely never had Gator, Buc-ee's Brisket, the Bluebonnet wine, or Shiner Bock since I don't drink.

Don't feel too bad, only time I ate fried gator was at a restaurant in the Greektown section of Downtown Detroit. But it counts.

Tastes somewhat like chicken, but without any flavor that chicken meat will typically get from it's fat or skin. Pretty bland, even battered and fried.

Kind of like frog legs but without the water gaminess.

Sounds good to me.

Back in the day when i worked on lake Travis, we used to stop at roadside stands that sold fresh peaches and had an option for homade ice cream with fresh peaches. Felt like I spent my entire measly paycheck on fresh ice cream and peaches.
