Of course they are. They need to keep their profit margin on a $1300 IPHONE

That's a pretty weird statement. What are you embittered about? A company making a profit while also moving its production out of a country hostile to US?

If you are bitter over money and profits then go buy stock and participate.

Apple has done well. It's boring but it's done well.

Just a factual statement. Please correct me if it is inaccurate.

You just went all caps and seemed offended at cost. It's cool. Have a good day.

Phone costs have gotten ruhtarded. Especially given how little they cost to make. I have a $150 android phone that works just fine. When Verizon and AT&T advertise "$1200 off the new iPhong", and you know they STILL are making money.....it's gotten ridiculous.

You and I don't do the same things I am guessing.

If that phone works for you then good for you.

This is really the only leverage Trump has. Get major businesses to pony up and spend money to move out of China. The only thing China can do is ban their products.

It does everything an iPhong or more expensive Android can do. Fast chipset, lots of memory, high MP cameras, etc.

True, which isn't what the main goal was, which was to bring manufacturing back to the states, but where there's more money to be made, companies will go that route way before they go the patriotic route.

Well, the reason companies moved in the first place hasn't been fixed. And he hasn't shown signs of actually wanting to fix things.

Bringing manufacturing back to US takes years. That can happen on small scale to critical products. But really no way for gov to steer the free market like that, without breaking things and creating new bigger problems than unfair trade.

Gov can reduce foreign trade burdens and domestic taxes/regs. Then let free markets evolve organically. Trying to force onshoring thru tarriffs would be a disaster. Trump knows that, which is why he is bluffing on perma tarriffs. If there are any perma tarrifss, they will be small and refined to a few products.

In the end, Trump will get reduction in tarriffs imposed on us, plus cheating/IP theft controls, fentanyl assurances. That will be delivered as a huge Art of Deal victory, and this idea of tarriffs to onshore manufacturing will disappear.
