are we really worried about innovation happening overseas?
Name one cool ass thing besides Nintendo and Sega that were made outside of the United States
Nope they can only copy and miniaturize what Americans have created.
TSMC is a literal example.
And DeepSeek says Hi.
This is outside my area of expertise. Are those superior to their US Made analogues?
I was half kidding since TSMC literally manufactures other folks chipd (copy and miniaturize) I though that was very clever if I might say so myself </pats back>
DeepSeek is "innovative" , but who knows the underlying reality. China is a true "innovation" danger (unlike say Japan) , because they have a lot of people, no ethics or qualms about stealing IP, and sanction it at a state level - stolen IP is shared, so progress in high tech is extremely fast.
US companies obviously don't share their IP with each other but for China there are tremendous advantages to being able to share stolen IP if that makes sense.
Its hard for smaller companies to compete. We had IP stolen by employees, and also because during a visit the customs officials scanned our hard drives. With 2 years, a Chinese chip was on the market that was clearly ours. (This was almost a decade and a half ago, we learnt our lesson) always travel with empty hardrives
