Noon is when the sun is supposed to be directly overhead. Standard time give us the closest approximation to this.

yeah, no.

the sun being at "true noon" or "solar noon" has zero to do with it being 12:00pm.

Every single location on Earth experiences a point when the sun is at its highest point. This happens along your local line of longitude (meridian), not at a fixed clock time.

And the whole noonish really only applies to areas between the two line of tropic. The farther away you get, teh farther from high noon the sun gets. That works for Texas. but less and less for the rest of the big cities as you move north.

Ban standard time.

And pot.

Everywhere.

No, I'd much rather have more daylight when I get off of work. Morning darkness is irrelevant, kids don't even walk to school anymore.

Think about how late in the morning it is dark right now.

Now imagine it being that dark for even another hour longer in the morning.

THAT is what permanent DST in the winter would be like. Everyone calling for it now will be booing it by the end of the first winter.

Zut alors!

As has been mentioned, would you rather go to work/school in the dark and then home in the dark, or go to work/school in the dark and then have at least a little light when going home?

I love living in the north (Idaho) during the summer when it's light until after 10pm, leaving tons of usable time after work to do stuff, but the winters are so depressing after the time changes. Leave it alone next week and the mental stability improves for those of us who work, and never see the sun during work days.

Fall time change is the worst day of the year.

Looking forward to the time change everywhere else. This Sunday NFL games start at 11 instead of 10. Sun up and sun down don't change. Not changing the clocks for the win.
