Generally, I root for the SEC in basketball in out of conference basketball games. The reason is simple, if the SEC team wins, it will strengthen the SEC strength of schedule. That will help A&M regardless if we eventually beat or lose to the SEC team.
Except tu. I always, always root against tu.
The reason is simple. tu is a bad business partner, and they try and skew that rules to their favor at the conference and national level.
The reality is that sip has more eyeballs than almost any other university in the nation, and they throw that weight around any chance they get. The failure of the Big12 is largely due to sip skewing conference rules in their favor, and every other program worth a darn leaving rather than play an unfair game. Because of that, I want them to lose, as often as possible. The long-term gain is worth the single season pain of them losing.
That is why it is great when something bad happens the the democrat party that will hurt in the short run. Business as usual in DC is evil, on both side, but especially within the Democratic party. They actively avow positions that destroy the US, while the RINO's at best tacitly accept it, or at worst vote for bad positions even though they argue against them.
So, people that want to point out that we love when something hurts the democratic party, even if it hurts the GOP, that is the first reason.
The second reason is that we hate half of the GOP. We hate all of DC, and the cesspool of corruption it has become. The GOP is a body has historically been complicit of the sewage, while the individual members take part in creating it. Some speak out against it and vote against it while still taking part in the graft. One might say "don't hate the playa, hate the game." This somewhat applies here, but only to a small degree. Elected officials and bureaucrats that broke the law and stole money need to go, I don't care who you are or where you came from.
We need to cut out the rot, regardless of party affiliation, and even if it hurts us in the short term. In the long run, continuing to be complicit will put this country in the same dumpster fire as the Big12. While some may cheer for that, there are enough patriotic Americans left that the reform party will continue to be elected for the forseeable future.
The Dems are stupid to try and fight this. Before 2028 they will make a sharp turn and say that preventing fraud was their idea. I would love it if the two parties were competing with each other for who could point out government fraud and waste better. Then, and only then, do I win.
