This is what happens when you have career politicians that got into politics before they ever accomplished anything, and they have set up the entire government for the last 50-60 years. People exactly like Joe Biden, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, and now AOC, Omar, etc. Their entire goal was just to pass spending bills for themselves/donors, then campaign to get re-elected. Wash, rinse, repeat. They never look backwards, only forwards and each successive bill had to be larger to show just how influential they can be.

All of these people hate this because for the first time in their entire lives, the entire American public is seeing that these people are abject morons who are at best career frauds and at worst thoroughly corrupt and stealing from the American people for decades.

These career politicians need to be called in to testify and testify to questions coming from FBI and DOJ agents, not their "friends on the other side".

Keep burning it down Elon!

Whoever Trump appoints to replace Ellen Weintraub at FEC should look into their voting record and party registration.

If there existed a 150 year old person, born in 1875 or earlier, they would have begun drawing Social Security retirement benefits in 1945 which is only five years after the first Social Security retirement checks began.

I was fascinated by the post by Luke Rosiak on the origins of DOGE's predecessor organization. I did some searching and found articles that connect the threads.

USDS was created to fix the horrible Healthcare.gov website that was completely useless and cost somewhere between $2-5 Billion. Big Tech desperately wanted to help save Obama's reputation and the ACA so a couple of hundred coders went to work in the White House at USDS in August 2014 under the OMB. From the very beginning, the Administrator of USDS was a political appointee.

https://www.wired.com/2014/06/healthcare-gov-revamp/

When Trump became President in 2017, he removed the political appointee and placed USDS under the Federal CIO and treated them as if they were a apolitical government agency. The problem is, the USDS staff were a bunch of committed leftists. To be more specific, they were a bunch of militant lesbians who had come from the porn industry. They laid low during Trump 45 and spent their budget on projects that would not draw attention from Trump's loyalist and networked.

https://www.nextgov.com/digital-government/2024/11/trumps-first-white-house-debated-role-usds-what-will-trump-20-do/401288/

When Joe Biden became President in 2021, he reverted back to making the Administrator of USDS a political appointee. Not only was the Administrator of USDS under Biden, Mina Hsiang, was a political appointee but the Project On Government Oversight found that she had a lot of ethical issues with her investments e.g. she had a substantial ownership interest in Rebellion Defense while Rebellion Defense was awarded a DoD contract..

https://docs.pogo.org/letter/2022/POGO-Asks-OMB-To-Rescind-Ethics-Waivers-That-Put-a-Top-Official-Above-the-Law-2-10-22.pdf

The Daily Wire article by Luke Rosiak is an expanded version of his X thread and provides the history of USDS through 2024.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-doge-origin-story-how-barack-obama-laid-the-groundwork-for-elon-musk

President Trump merely picked up a weapon that was created by Obama and Biden and renamed it DOGE an put it in the hands of Elon Musk to wield. Elon sharpened the blade with his best software engineers (Big Balls et.al). Now, I am obsessed with watching DOGE gut the swamp creatures.

We need to either start a new thread about all the court cases that are coming about as a result of this cleansing of the Deep State or keep this thread updating every time a new freeze/order gets placed on one of DOGE's activities.

All this stuff needs to be accelerated to the Supreme Court ASAP.

April 04, 1995
More than 2 years ago, I promised to fix the Federal Government. I was firmly convinced that we could do more with less, that we could create a Government that was leaner but not meaner, and that we could make Government our partner rather than a problem.

I established the National Performance Review and put Vice President Gore in charge. He and his team have helped to transform Government, to cut bureaucracy and redtape, and to find ways to give the American people the service they deserve. At the same time, my economic plan is bringing down the deficit by more than $600 billion, and we are proposing another $81 billion in deficit reduction in the budget I recently sent to Congress.
Quote:

A major element of my strategy was my commitment to streamline and cut the Federal work force. For too long in Washington, we have had too many layers of bureaucracy, too many workers whose main job was to check on the work of other workers rather than to perform useful work themselves. As the National Performance Review noted, we had good people trapped in bad systems. I promised to cut the work force, and that's what I'm doing. Through our efforts, we have already cut the work force by 102,000 positions and we are on track to cut it by a total of 272,900 positions, bringing it to its smallest size since John Kennedy was President.
Quote:

Early last year, Congress approved my request to allow non-Defense agencies to offer buyouts of up to $25,000 a person. The Defense Department and a few other agencies already could offer buyouts under existing law. Because normal attrition will help us downsize in the future, we offered buyouts only until March 31, 1995, which was last Friday.
Looking back, I can safely say that our buyout program has been a huge success. It achieved what we had hoped: to help us cut the work force in a fiscally responsible and humane way.
To reduce the work force by 102,000 positions by the end of fiscal 1994, we offered about 70,000 buyouts. Several non-DOD agencies have offered deferred buyouts that will take place between now and March 1997. Defense will be using buyouts as it continues to downsize through 1999. Counting those, we expect to buy out another 84,000 workers through 1997 as we reduce the work force by a total of 272,900 positions.

Did anyone freak out when Bill Clinton did this?
Liberals were less stupid, and did not feel as entitled to other people's earnings back then.
Now they are just sanctimonious, worthless leeches.
In that time frame Big Government was the boogeyman that supposedly supported Big Corporations ripping off the people, particularly the minorities.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

She was also acting director for the David Rubenstein center for WH history before that. The David Rubenstein Trump just fired from the Kennedy Center.

I hope there's a plan here as the woman who now has replaced her, in that role again, Debrah Seidel Wall, is also complete scum and is the one who really played along to get the FBI to ransack Mar A Lago for documents they already had copies of, and oh by the way made guards at the national archives remove any pro-life stance stuff.

National Archives may seem mundane vs. other stuff but they've injected their TDS leadership into the political world quite heavily the past 10-20 years.

Probably everyone else on this website besides you I guess….

Most of us care about this place a lot.

Universities are going to fall apart when they lose all this research funding and we are going to fall behind very in innovation compared to the rest of the world.

We will still be able to do research on chemicals, material science, medicine, manufacturing processes and so forth. Why? Because private industry will partner with universities to get it done. Cheaper, faster with replicable results. Who is going to suffer? The humanities. Okay, all of these departments are massively overstaffed. It's great to have English or Philosophy degrees... but not to the point that they overwhelm the system. 75% of the jobs in our economy don't need a degree. They need basic competency in reading, writing, math and on the job training. The parts that do: medicine, engineering, STEM, and legal will be able to support themselves. The rest of it.. not so much. Time to refocus. Stop locking up billions of dollars in institutions that aren't doing us enough good.

Obligatory: Welcome to the party pal!

They're already falling apart. Enrollment cliff is here. Tuition is unsustainable and administration is bloated. The northeast and Midwest will be hit hardest but smaller colleges have been getting pinched and failing for years.

Get this country back under a balanced budget / and taking away from the present deficit for a few years

Then Congress can go back to making decisions that make sense when it comes to universities.

A few years won't make or break them. And if it does, the strongest will be left standing.
