If the RCC and Orthodox convened an eccumenical council and allowed cosnervative protestants to attend as equals...... there would be a MASSIVE number of Protestant interest and willingness to take part. I actually am hoping a new pope (after this one) would be willing to do this. I know that our presiding minister in the CREC would attend.

I believe the pressures of global secularism, widespread post-modernism, and general evil are impacting all branches of Christendom. Standing up against these forces is creating bridges between theological adversaries who are united in their concern for global Christendom.

Ecumenical council to discuss politics. All for getting the whole crew together to discuss what's happening in the world, but my understanding is ecumenical councils are for church/theological matters.

Baptists have no bishop and do not practice the Eucharist. As my Scottish friends would say they're as different as chalk and cheese.
We perform Communion the first Sunday every month, and we have a spiritual leadership training and mentoring for leadership for internal and external service ... so... not as chalky and cheesy as you'd like to think

We have communion EVERY Sunday in our "Southern Baptist aligned" Church.

This article talks about men are flocking to the Orthodox Church due it be more masculine than their feminist Protestant churches. I am Greek Orthodox who attends an Antichion Church and noticed more single men joining our church.

I am a protestant, but a deeply conservative and liturgical protestant. I am in the CREC... same denomination as Doug Wilson and Pete Hegseth.

I think a lot of critics of Protestantism paint us all with a broad brush.

I have learned to not paint all Catholics and Orthodox with one either.

Those who call upon the name of the triune God, repent of sin, and seek to follow Christ are my brothers and sisters.

May God grow your Church and may God unite all of Christendom together in future years.
For the most part, I do think there needs to be more of this. It's easy to bicker amongst ourselves over petty things but truthfully, I do think it's more important that you believe than how you practice that belief.

All Christians should agree that:

1. Egalitarianism is anti-Christian
2. Abortion is evil in all circumstances and is an inverted sacrament of the enemies of Christ.
3. Homosexuality should have NO QUARTER in the Church at all. Homosexuals must repent and turn away from that sin. Marriage can NEVER be accepted as anything other than one man to one woman.

Anyone who calls themself a Christian and embraces abortion or homosexuality is deceiving themselves and everyone around them.
What about divorce, adultery and pornography? #4, #5, and #6?

I don't think Optimist's point was to cover the multitude of sins that can and often do occur in the body of churches without discipline - I think he was just refuting the ones that are heavily being touted as acceptable. I dont know of many chruches shouting from the rooftops that divorce, adultery, and porn are great things that should be embraced and celebrated.

On that note, I'd add that biblical church discipline is another aspect completely unheard of by most evangelicals, and sounds horrifying to most of them at first encounter. It has sadly disappeared completely from most churches and the results are evident.
No, it's even worse. They're IGNORING these things. Over 50% of the marriages in this country end in divorce, and yet, most churches don't care that it happens all the time (even within their own congregations.

Porn is rarely addressed or swept under the rug.

And what about masterbation (spilling the seed), fornication (in all its forms). These are things that have been celebrated and going on since well before homosexuality and abortion became mainstream political hot points.

Sin is sin. Period. NONE of it should be readily accepted or celebrated.
