Bro, talk to some Asians...even the ones that had at least some life-balance will tell you that the pressure from their parents was almost unbearable at times. Many of them still carry some baggage later in life because of it.

Can you blame their parents really? They are moving across the globe, to a completely foreign place that could not be more different than everything they ever knew...tremendous sacrifice...all so they and their children could have better opportunities, and they are going to make damn sure their children do not blow it. Then there is the "you better not shame/embarrass us in front of the extended family". My 1st gen Korean-American wife's cousins are almost all doctors or PHD's. Thank God my inlaws were pretty reasonable and relaxed, but several of her aunts and uncles would have lost their sh** if their children ended up being "lowly pharmacists" like her. You basically had to be a doctor in these families.

No, they want the highest talent/hardest working people to come contribute to making American better and have the balls to admit that American culture has created weaker and more entitled people. The tree of economic progress has to be watered with fresh desperate hard workers which this country has had since the beginning.

The same racist ish these groyper losers are saying about Indians was said about Irish, Italians, Chinese, Japanese, ect. People come, work their asses off, their kids become super American but with good academic work ethic.

Everyone wants lower priced products. It's why Amazon beat everyone. Lower priced products means higher standard of living for everyone.

You cannot compare results for US Students, to that of other countries.

Take the SAT for example: We make all students take it, even the lowest performing students. That's the complete opposite for many other countries who only test their best/brightest.

But it's tangential to the real issue.

If there are capable and qualified US Citizens, why are we allowing them to import cheaper replacements, with all the negative consequences it causes?

Read a remedial history book, and you'll see story after story about people groups who were mistreated this exact same way. The #1 book, used for US History in High School and Universities, deals extensively with the way these people groups suffered as a result...it's the majority of the curriculum...making sure the reader understands how badly we must all feel, for these people groups being used by our country.

We lament this part of our history, but some are cool with it happening in the high-tech industry now? That's a bit hypocritical.

Their offspring will be Americanized and fall down closer to the mean after a generation or two. Immigrants almost always tend to put their children through academic and career pressure the natives haven't endured in generations.

The 40 year-old 1st gen Korean-American doctor is going to be far more likely to have some spoiled entitled punk kids who eventually rebel and do foolish things like insist on worthless liberal arts degrees because they want to "pursue their passions", than their hardlined immigrant parents were.

I love how this has basically revealed the reality of the H1-B program to the world. We would have never known how bad it really was without Vivek and Musk sperging out on X. Now everyone is deep diving the full list and uncovering hoardes of scamming. The entire system is broken.
