This is silly. If a big company is hiring 40k workers and paying 200k for them, they can easily be out performed by companies that hire high level workers for 150k directly.

The market fixes all this.

Is it bad how h1s restrict how the workers can move companies, yes. Fix h1, don't stop bringing in hard workers.

Lost in all this discussion is the fact that the Overton window has completely shifted in the sense that we used to debate whether or not we should import tens of millions of central and South Americans and now it's a foregone conclusion that they are here and never going back.

The discussion is now about whether we should import tens of millions of Indians, Pakistanis, and people from Africa and the Middle East. Funny how things change. Now the average American would be happy if the just the former was the case and we only brought in Hispanics since they are majority Christian and generally assimilate easier into American society

Not sure about this TBH. For better or worse, we used a lot of slave labor for generations...and also have used Chinese and Mexican labor since at least the 1800's. Would be interesting to see where we would be without that...hell, maybe it held us back in the long run.

Also, if non-diversity was the end all be all, the Asian countries would have been THE absolute indisputable world leaders for many many years, and still to this day.

I'd question Langan's IQ. Given Euler's accomplishments, I would not with him. Euler's list is so long as to be almost comical. Half of the theorems in any intro to calculus books would be named after him if they didn't name the theory after the 2nd person to discover them because otherwise it would be too confusing trying to determine which Euler theorem someone was speaking about. "No no I mean Euler theory number 87 not 78!"

I remembered this from the John Adams book by McCullough. I remember thinking, and still believe, the fact that TJ died first and that quote by Adams, as additional proof of afterlife. I truly believe Adams was seeing TJ as Adams passed.
