I don't know why people don't understand that certain resources are a zero sum and negatively affect Americans when foreigners come here. It's becoming impossible for a lot of millennials and gen Z to purchase a home.

Can we build more housing? Yes we can, but it takes time and I'm sure builders like the increased demand driving up home prices.

Vivek is right and he's not criticizing "white culture". It's American culture as a whole. We are raising self entitled kids that think they are owned cushy high paying jobs because their parents had them and refused to drum that same work ethic they had drilled into them.

We already went over this. The overwhelming majority of homegrown tech workers are white. He is saying they are incompetent, but imported entry level H1b's are just what we need. Which happen to be majority Indian, just like he is.

We have competent tech workers, the best and brightest in the world, but the tech companies want cheap slave labor from abroad to line their pockets.

Also, Vivek campaigned on gutting the H1b system. Funny how that changes once he actually has influence.

This is a moronic take and painting younger generations with a broad brushstroke. Anecdotally, My circle of friends have all played by the rules society laid out for them and abided by the social contract to achieve a reasonable lifestyle and still can't purchase a home.

They went to school and got a four year degree. They stayed away from drugs and excessive alcohol. They didn't have children out of wedlock. They work hard in their jobs. What do they get in return? Layoffs and jobs replaced by pajeets, and homes purchased by hedge funds and foreigners instead of them because the price is out of reach.

It's the same commie anti capitalist bs from groypers. Go to the dem party where socialists are welcomed.

As if the brightest in the US are held hostage to needing to be hired and given a cushy job. The brightest make their own way. Not begging for highpay, low work from home.

Nah, we just don't want foreigners coming here. We don't need subpar indians coming in with fake credentials doing poor work.

Milton Friedman was anti H1b by the way. Was he a socialist?

Because they think they are owed an easy living. Older generations moved all over the country to find work and cheaper living. I know plenty of 20-30 year olds working for themselves or contract or even salaried jobs, with nice houses. They just are smart and move out where homes are cheaper. Some are gov workers. Cops. Living nicely.
Some have moved professions because the opportunity was better elsewhere.

They are doing fine.

Friedman viewed the H-1B visa program as a form of government subsidy for businesses. He argued that it allowed companies to hire foreign workers at lower wages, which he equated to "socialism for the rich."

Have you dealt with the recent crops of Americans with degrees that dint have immigrants parents. Some of the most entitled, anti-work, first to leave people ever. Not all, but a very high percentage.

Same BS they always say to justify the importation of cheap foreign labor. No proof of it either.

I guarantee America flourishes without immigration. I guess we can see if those immigrants will beat us from their home countries. I doubt it.

It's a quote from someone who claims he said it. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did say it, as the program as it exists is not market friendly. It restricts competition for the immigrant.

The program could use a big overhaul for sure, however the result SHOULD be more high talent coming from overseas, especially Asia.

How can they when the vast majority of their country is corrupt and or lazy? That is what we need to avoid.

Aren't you just further proving the point they shouldn't be here? The majority of their country is corrupt and lazy. Why do we want that culture here?

They can't even get basic infrastructure like electricity, HVAC, waste disposal, and plumbing done correctly. Their streets are full of crap, piss, and garbage. They have a spaghetti of electrical lines all over the place. It's a disaster.

We don't need it. And we already have the O-1, which has its own problems.

There is no reason H1bs should be taking American jobs when over 150,000 American STEM workers were laid off in 2024. It is purely for undercutting wages and importing people willing to work like slaves. We are a nation and we should not make our citizens compete with the world for entry level work.

It is not even just for tech jobs. We have plenty of Americans who can drive a truck. Why exactly are foreigners taking over the trucking industry? Because they will cram 4 of them in a truck to driver overhours and dangerously to save a few cents a mile.

If you want to import nobel prize winners and actually unique people to grow our economy. Fine. I disagree in principle, but it is a concession I would make. We do not need any foreign entry level workers, laborers, or tradesmen.

Populism is such a funny thing. The people who think they're the voice of a populist movement all of a sudden can find themselves enemy number one.

I hope this entire situation exposes the populist/maga politicians and businessmen who surrounded Trump. Many of them are not good people, they are self-interested individuals who want to shape government to their benefit while paying lip service and giving low-hanging fruit to the masses. I thought it would take a few years for people to come to that realization, but I had no idea it would start before Trump even took office.

Coalition-building is not good politics. Anyone who's even glanced in the direction of Europe should have known that. Short-term wins in exchange for long-term party division.

An Indian proving once again they cannot be trusted to be honest, at all, ever. Their response to this situation is very telling.

Vivek doesn't have a history of governing which is a risk voting for him. You don't know if he'll govern in alignment with his campaigning. DeSantis, and Trump both have a track record governing so you have a high confidence in what they will do when elected.

Ramaswamy I don't trust to govern as conservatively as he campaigns.

Indians are going to favor H1-B. Lots of tech company CEOs and executives are Indian and will want the cheapest Indian labor they can get because it helps Indians and their company bottom line.

If you want higher wages for American citizens, then you would want fewer H1-B visas. But the CEOs want lower wages and lower costs.

I work with both. Maybe you should do a better job of hiring, because our recent crop of American 20somethings are excellent outside of a rare exception. But with Indians from our IT vendors, the experience has been the inverse. One quality one out of 8-10 workers. That includes vendors like IBM and PWC. When you do find a quality one, that one usually is overworked and has no bandwidth because he's carrying the load for 8+ losers
