If Indian culture creates India, I want it nowhere near America.

Already happening - just go take a look at McKinney now. Little India up there.

They bring their caste stuff over here. I've seen it inside my company where they treat each other differently, with complete disrespect, and I'm convinced it's because of caste. Giving them control over our tech companies has been a huge mistake.

The schools are having a hard time fielding athletic teams, especially football, up there as none of the Indian kids play those sports nor are they encouraged.

So things are changing and so has America throughout its history - however it's interesting, for better or worse, to see it change like this in Texas. From a religious standpoint it's new to see tons of Hindu temples flying up all over the place in north Dallas.

How it will shake out with regards to culture in the region will be interesting nonetheless.

We already have that; O-1 Visa
O-1's are very rare and really only for people with PhDs, multiple patents, and that have done a lot of speaking engagements. They are also very random. I've seen people denied for O-1 that seemed perfect and people get them that I scratch my head.

As to the larger thread you seem to want it both ways. Do you want to greatly limit H-1s or do you want to prevent offshoring? Can't have both, they work in opposition to each other.

I think there is rampant abuse in the H-1 system but overall it's a good concept. It needs to be much more limited and they need to crack down hard on the consulting firms like Tata and Cognizant that abuse the hell out of it. It should be merit based and not a lottery (that has never made sense to me). It needs to be more balanced as we have far too many from India and China as well as a few other countries. Those countries produce some amazing talent but they need to be severely restricted.

There are other abuses. For instance my company has stopped recruiting from a Top 20 University because they have some great candidates but almost all of them can't get an Export License. Why? They are overwhelmingly Chinese citizens on visa. The real abuses happen at the Grad school level btw, the amount of grad school folks who are on visa is just insane in technical areas. The schools want them so they can charge full tuition and OOS for public schools and they gladly pay it.

Shutting it off entirely is not a rational response. Major reform is. This is a very different problem than illegal immigration. Still a very real problem but it needs to be addressed in a different way. We want the Elon Musk's and Sundar Pachai's and Lisa Su's and Satya Nadella's and Jensen Huang's to come here. None were born in the US and they lead Tesla, Google, AMD, Microsoft, and Nvidia just for starters. Now you could argue that we don't want all tech companies led by immigrants as well but we certainly want that level of talent here.

Also, in my experience in technical recruiting for 30 years I have seen very, very few instances where a company is paying less for talent because of H-1's. It absolutely happens but it is typically with the big consulting firms as mentioned before. Some of the packages I regularly pay out to H-1s are for massive amounts, especially in Silicon Valley.

Trump needs to halt or penalize outsourcing more. His argument for tariffs are that foreign countries are undercutting American made with cheap labor. The same is happening with jobs. In Hungary, Thailand, Brazil, India, Argentina American workers are being replaced with overseas labor that is payed 10-20% of Americans. Management is then granted millions of dollars of stock for their restructuring.

What if in return for lowering the corp tax rate to 15% foreign labor and services is not tax deductible.

So many of these H1-Bs absolutely suck at their job. Give me 1 competent American IT guy over 10 of these clowns
Ever notice how most financial institutions (USAA being the big one) have outsourced their phone centers, support to India. It's absolutely infuriating that these jobs could easily be done by Americans who can actually speak english
This is all companies, and they've been doing it for decades. Most of these jobs will get eaten by AI anyway.

He expects people to work like founders when they are plebs with none of the benefits.

Work 100 hour weeks to start your own tech company? Great!

Work 100 hour weeks to do mid level coding? Ridiculous.

Both of these are absolute nails. Vivek's post is the opposite of everything that made this nation great. Our Founding Fathers view the US as the continuation of Ancient Rome and Greco-Roman ideals. Everything Vivek posted is 100% against what the Founders' thought.

this is quite a happening, politically speaking.

At least the right isn't afraid of engaging in friendly fire if the ideas the supposed-friendlies are speaking when they take the mask off are completely obvious pivots to get what they want personally instead of staying on the path of the platform that put them in positions of influence.

Cant say that about BlueAnon.

Bad Trump.

No ****ing way anyone who comes over here and gets a grevience studies major should get a green card. People would be headhunted based on skills and abilities, and most of all to the benefit of the American economy. There should be hundreds of these people a year, and it should be a desired privilege, not the standard.
