In light of the ABC lawsuit settlement and with RFK's appointment as Health Secretary I think you'll see the MSM start to crumble.

First of all, with Trump's landslide victory, none of the left want to watch or read the news reporting on him because unlike 2016, there is no longer a resistance movement. They don't want to be reminded of this sad fact. I'm sure the very far left will still hate watch/read for copium but that's a fraction of the viewers/readers they need.

Secondly, RFK will take a wrecking ball to big pharma including removing all pharma ads from TV (only other country in the world that allows it is New Zealand and they have many more restrictions than we do).

I think you'll start to see some big names get whacked as all the advertising money dries up over the next several years and these corporations realize they are drowning in debt. They'll probably need to have their own versions of DOGE.

How ironic and I'll be happily watching with plenty of popcorn. Just the demise, not the actual programming.

I don't think Pharma ad restrictions can happen without legislation

You know what I meant. RFK will lead the charge to make it happen.

Big media is already collapsing. This will accelerate it.

I also didn't mention in my original post that you could make an argument that this will be similar to what happened to Bud Light. There were alternatives and the public moved to those.

In this case there are long-form podcasts, platforms like X, and political forums like this one that people can leverage as a news aggregators.

May it come quickly. The legacy MSM has done more to divide and run down the country and its ability to function with coherent thought than any of the overseas enemies they constantly drum up could ever have dreamed of. They are most destructive and corrosive force in society today, with activist academia a distant second.

Another reason as symbolized by the Rogans and even moments by Bill Maher and others--- is those on the left that genuinely are independent thinkers and rather bright, have finally started to see clearly that yes, the MSM-Uniparty is just a bunch of 24/7 liars and gaslighters about lining their own pocket-books. Even once staple left things like being anti-war and anti-surveillance have gone out the window and they see it. So their resistance is now directed toward where it belonged --- the Beltway and MSM. On the true far left, but not frauds, their populists who mean what they say, they also see how the DNC rigged their candidate choices- -- indeed didn't give them any. All that has played a role too.

Interesting dynamics for sure. You have the Soros type billionaires still ready to spend massive amounts to "transform" the country and the Joy Reid types who are willing to say and do anything to spite Trump vs the despicables and garbage types who are starting to see through the BS and the CEOs who are starting to see Woke as a way to lose money and get fired.

Musk and X are a huge difference maker- no longer is the legacy media monopolizing the discourse. And Trump now understands just how vile and characterless the enemy (whether Dem or swamp GOP) is. The war is not yet won or even a guaranteed W, and the battle is just really getting underway, but finally there is a reason to hope for a good result.

The legacy media is no longer the preferred provider of political information. Their ability to control a narrative is fading fast and thankfully so.

Just look at the CR fiasco yesterday. It was all over social media and that quickly created such an outcry the elected officials had no choice but to pull back. It caught them completely flat footed. As long as Musk owns X, the days of sneaking around and passing bad legislation in the dark of night are over, particularly when combined with AI algorithms that can decipher and summarize the bills in minutes.

It's a new day in Washington, and not just because there is a new administration. Maybe this new accountability will at least be a reminder to elected officials that this government is supposed to work for the people, not the other way around.

As ever remind, the real key to reform and improvement is that the thinking part of the center liberals have joined cause. This must be factored in --- the best hope for the future is to restore the American style of avoiding polar extremes as the axis. What makes the MSM so criminal is it is so relentlessly activist and pro government and does not hold their chosen party accountable. Even Slate and Salon admitted this in 2012 in a different context when Romney was running.

You could make that case but I'm talking more about the massive layoffs that will occur. Once Maddow, Muir, Stephanopolis and others get pink slipped that will be the true bellwether event.
