If their children are minors and live in their home, yes.

Again, if we're holding parents accountable for their kids when their kids skip school, we sure AF can hold parents accountable for their kid murdering people.

Prison sentences for single black moms are about to be lit.

I'm old, but my generation seemed to NEVER consider murder as a solution. What is at the root cause for the change?
Social media
Could be. If so...we (US) should move away from gun control and demand SM use be limited for minors and mentally unstable persons, etc. I also blame Hollywood for the wicked genre it typically espouses for youth consumption.

With sgl. parent homes and or Mom & Dad work...where/when are kids taught morality/compassion??? And, IMHO, Church (1 or 2 hrs per week) isn't even addressing the issue. I think Jesus is/would be appalled.

Don't think the white libs have thought this one through. If adhered to and fairly applied, for every one white parent locked up for their child's actions, you'll likely have dozens of black parents jailed.

Police are investigating whether a teenage girl who killed a teacher and fellow student at a school in Madison, Wisconsin, had been bullied prior to the shocking incident.
Police responded to reports of an active shooter at Abundant Life Christian School just before 11 a.m. on Monday morning and entered the building immediately upon arrival.

The 15-year-old suspect was later identified by police as Natalie Rupnow. She was pronounced dead when police arrived at the scene of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, Madison Police Department Chief Shon Barnes said on Monday.

A second-grade teacher dialled 911 to report the shooting, police clarified on Tuesday.

Earlier Sheriff made a mistake and said the 911 cal came from a second grader instead of a second grade teacher.

Has there ever been a serial killer or mass shooter who had a loving relationship with both parents? Seems like most of them had no relationship with their father, or a very bad one. Some of them had horrible crazy mothers.

The breakdown of the family unit seems like the biggest epidemic our society faces. Maybe we need more good traditional latino two-parent families and should streamline the legal immigration process for them somehow?

The problem is too many white parents are afraid to spank their kids. This problem afflicts mostly white parents. Not black, asian or latinos. White parents think that they are being modern and progressive and civilized by sparing the rod. Talk to any Asian kid, their parents would have spanked them when they were kids and straightened them out at the right age and focused them on academics which leads them to going to Harvard, Stanford and MIT and becoming CEOs. I will wager thatr Vivek Ramaswamy's parents beat the sheet out of him when he was little. Not as abuse, but to parent.
White dads are too scared to discipline their kids these days, they want to buy their love with iPhones and iPads and the kids fall behind other kids with involved parents leading to frustration and anger. Some erupt like this kid.

Oddly enough, in my observation a lot of those walls preventing open violence from women are coming down. Just look at tiktok videos of the number of women getting into public fist fights. My guess is that the campaign against masculinity and the perverse desire of Hollywood to make every action hero movie center on a violent female protagonist has had its cultural effect. May God save us all.

I hear you.

There's more and more women who try to have the backs of men, showing clips of women berating and mentally abusing their men, and how that leads to younger men not wanting anything to do with women.

These next few years in our society will hopefully show a reversal of these things.
This isn't new.

Even my wife noticed in the 90's that men were usually the subject of ridicule by women in a lot of TV commercials and sitcom's.

It's the same even now. The dad is always the goofy doofus and the mom is the responsible one who saves the situation.

This leads to young girls having less respect for the men in their lives and for men in general. This is why we hear "what a man does a woman can do better" which is a load of crap as no one has been able to conclusively show evidence for that.

Men also lose self-esteem. One of my friends calls his wife "boss". While she berates him all the time in social gatherings. Makes me cringe.

We've desensitized our society to violence.

Between gore in movies, TV and video games, society sees it as make believe from a very young age.

Add in the demonization of everyone who does not conform to your world view and voila, who cares if that guy/girl dies, they're not me.

LOL, wut?

Black teens commit more violent crimes than any segment of the population, and it's not even close. Is that because their parents don't beat them enough?

A spanking is not a beating.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

16yo daughter has a female friend who for the past year or so has insisted on being called he/him in spite of appearing to like boys. The topic came up again last night, and our daughter is confused because previously butch female friend has flipped to being "hot Cheetos girl". Daughter is kind of done with high maintenance friends who do things to get attention. A life lesson in how to pick friends.

Kids are messed up these days

If their children are minors and live in their home, yes.

Again, if we're holding parents accountable for their kids when their kids skip school, we sure AF can hold parents accountable for their kid murdering people.
What about knives, cars, chainsaws etc? Just guns? If she has stolen mom's Hyundai and mowed over 20 of her classmates at a school parade or gathering, nothing happens to her parents?

Also, should we hold people liable if a friend or attendee at a party steals a gun from a closet and goes on a rampage?

Just seems like a very slippery slope, unless you can show that the parent GAVE them that gun, or that there was some other sort of extreme negligence or something.
We can go "what if/bout?" ad infinitum. I'd recommend doing individual threads for each.

As for this, my stance is clear.

If you (generally speaking) are for holding parents accountable when their kids skip school, then it's hard to see how holding parents accountable to their children committing murder.

Or, one can just say no parent is responsible for anything their children do and cal it a day. At least then there'd be consistency.

Just for the record, Texas doesn't hold the parents responsible for their child's truancy if the kid is 12 and older. They hold the kid responsible.

So if you hate your parents and have nothing to live for, then why not go out in a blaze of glory killing children so that you can ensure your parents spend a long time in jail?

That is a very bad idea.

You know what's funny about your thought there. Who has been in power for the Texas Education for the last 20-30 years? Bush, Perry, Abbott. So who's fault is that no one holds kids accountable?
Unfortunately, there are TONS of liberals actually running the school system in TX. A vastly disproportionate amount, actually. Should Abbott etc. fire them? Only hire Christian conservatives? How do we fix this mess that liberals have created?

Does Abbot have control to the extent of banning the hiring of liberals? I honestly don't know too much about the education system here in TX at the grade school level, but somehow a disproportionate amount of liberal dipsh*ts were able to creep their way into the schoolboards and classrooms.

Well you are either misinformed, a liar, or you're just parroting the common F16 public school hate. Maybe you're zoned to a crappy district. Our district is fantastic and routinely files on students for truancy. My buddy is the JP and this is a big part of his caseload. He issues community service and fines to kids all the time. And then hammers the parent(s) if the child is under 12.
