Is the 25% tariff a ploy to get Trudeau to bend to Trump's demands?
I do business with someone in Canada and he's already told me that if the tariffs go into effect he won't do business in the U.S. anymore. It's very much a niche product and it would be extremely difficult to find a similar producer here in the States for the same costs.
Sounds like you've stumbled on an opportunity to manufacture the product here.
Thats not an opportunity. It's a forced requirement.
Lol, what a typical liberal stance.
Conservative - sees an opportunity in this to grow a new industry here in the U.S., one that could provide jobs and enrich yourself and other fellow Americans.
Liberal - whines that you're being "forced" to work instead of having a foreign-made product handed to you on a silver plate.
Im not a lib, but you miss my point which is totally apolitical.
Canada may prove to be a bit different due to a similar cost and standard or living, but things are generally already made where they're cheapest. Tariffs intentionally disrupt this free market phenomenon. Making something here instead, from a business consumer's perspective does nothing more than raise prices for them. It's a choice that few would entertain, given the alternative.
But by all means, if you want to pay more for things due to government intervention, go for it. I personally can't think of a more liberal position, myself.
