Right in the wake of Jaguar's disaster of an ad, Volvo kills it with this 3:46 ad.

Watch out girl dads.

I cannot speak for women and LGBT+++ and I am not a marketing guru (although I have watched Mad Men twice) and I can tell you that men buy an idea, a dream, a promise and/or a statement (thus the chick car and man mobile). If you want to sell to men do not pull a Bud-light or Jaguar... All I have to say.

Some would use a Time Machine to avoid mistakes in high school, make the first move on their crush, join the military, or buy a lotto ticket. I would take it back to day one with our oldest and do it all over again. Even if i had my soft heart as an older guy the whole time.

I would have bought that AAPL stock I really wanted.

The soft heart older guy that I am now would have avoided some of my hard-nosed mistakes.

Yep...three daughters, three granddaughters and now a great-granddaughter. One just called crying because she has to put down a Lab that saved her from a pit bull once. Now I'm crying again!

"She might be the reason we tie the knot".

I guess it is pro-family if you might get married after getting the live-in pregnant.

I know several families this happened to and they have been happily married for decades. I do know one couple that got divoced in that time frame. Anecdotal I know.

Of course. It is pro-family. It's just not the most pro-family it could have been.

Better to depict this than another potential outcome.

This. The fact that when they found out the reaction wasn't wavering on what to do. It was simply, we're going to have a child.

Sad we've come to a place where probably half the population would expect at least some debate about whether to abort.

The "For Life" when the car doesn't hit a pregnant woman and take out her unborn baby will probably explode some heads.

Overall an absolutely amazing commercial that will resonate and sell them more cars.

They offered a sprinkle of woke but an overall message of the man actually manning up and woman embracing her womanhood (not sorry libs, only actual biological women have babies).

To Gen Y, it's not too late. To Gen Z, get in the game. The blessing of telling your parents they will be grandparents, or at least in my case, they have more grandkids on the way, is simply one of the best moments/experiences you will ever have in your life. It is pure joy.

That and a lesbian relationship for the daughter. This is basically an early subversive ad from the 1990s. The fact that people are glossing over that doesn't make it not subversive and you are still tacitly accepting this by giving the entire ad approval.

Outside of the above the ad is great and is a very good short film. There was no reason at all to include the above beyond subversion and demoralization.

Agree with this. I got to tell both of my parents, my wife was born much later in her parents life (she was a surprise) and her mother passed away from cancer before we got married, her father passed away when she was pregnant with our first.

Count your blessings if your parents are still with you.
