States' only sorce of revenue is taxpayers. In this case businesses are on the hook. Unfortunately, because they could have passed along those taxes to their customers.

They default on paying back this loan while they spent at the same time $24B the last 5 years on the homeless crisis.

The entire state government should be sued to pay for all this out of their own pockets.

Am I the only one pleasantly surprised that the Federal Government actually has a provision where they can recover money like this?

I'm assuming the provision was put in place because they didn't think any politician was stupid enough to do this.

While not blaming them specifically, sort of like picking a bad business partner or not doing your due diligence on a potential client or customer. There are a lot of real estate investors who have been burned by bad tenants. Part of doing business with less than honorable people. Anyone doing business in Cali has been on notice for years.

Doesn't make any of this right, of course, but for goodness sakes, don't make the same mistake twice. Get out of that state.
