https://notthebee.com/article/jeremy-clarkson-just-joined-the-protest-against-the-uks-commie-plan-to-destroy-farmers

I've been watching top gear for nearly a decade and a half now. I started watching Clarksons farm a few years ago when it dropped.

If you don't know, Jeremy Clarkson bought a farm in England and during the pandemic his farm manager retired. Despite no experience, Clarkson decided he would run the farm. The show is following him as he absolutely fails at farming, having a 20 year old kid school him daily on how to farm and Clarkson learning to love the farm life.

Its a really great show. I highly recommend.

That said, Clarkson also learns first hand of the massive bureaucracy and very heavy handed nearly totalitarian control the British federal govt and local govts have over his personal farm.

It tells him what he can and cannot do on his farm. The city council won't even let him out a road on his farm, nor build a building because it might disturb the looks of the farm from the town. The town fails to realize it's a working farm.

Now that the labour party is back in charge, they are trying to kill off their farmers, I presume in the name of climate change and leftist style communism. They say they are going to use the new tax to pay for their Healthcare system and to discourage rich landowners from blurting farms to avoid taxes.

But, nearly every farm there is worth more than the bottom value the govt is set and therefore nearly every farm will face very high tax bills when the property is transferred.

Quote:

the UK now wants to impose harsh inheritance taxes on farms - even small ones.

Starting in 2026, farms worth more than 1m will be subject to a tax of TWENTY PERCENT.

This is on top of other onerous regs dished out one farmer like fertilizer restrictions. In the end, farmers already have a hard enough time making money there, this will only hasten the destruction of Britain's agricultural communities.

Sell the farm to a corporation that you own. Then the farm will never be passed down as an inheritance and will just shift over time who is the CEO and other roles within the family.

It is what happened in California. All of the misinformation about "corporations" buying up all of the US farms is actually families grouping together to form family corporations to avoid regulations and taxes to continue operating.

I guess the UK just wants to become more dependent on foreign countries for their food supply. I saw a stat that says that they have to import 40% of their food (compared to our ~15%). This will only become worse if they continue down that path.

We also watched that show. Had to stop watching, the incredible amount of regulations were to horrible to contemplate!!! It was disheartening to think that any country would try and do that, then Kamala ran and I knew it could become real!!!!

I'm sure Britain has a law against that or else the farmers are dumb

That's a really smart strategy to make it harder on the people who grow your food. The Ukraine famine in the 1920's comes to mind. History repeating itself. Commies lack the ability to learn.

And if the democrats ever get back in power, they'd love do something like this here. They want to control food production. For climate change, of course.

Workarounds like this shouldn't be necessary. Death taxes and anything like them are evil and should be abolished.

Why should farms be different than other businesses in dealing with excessive regulations and massive government overreach into everything they do?

uh that's not how it works. At all. And in this country. You have a yearly/lifetime ceiling on gifting and everything above that, if over a certain dollar amount, is subject to estate (death) tax.

And some states (blue one mostly) have onerous death taxes above what the feds impose.

Putting your company/property in a corp doesn't shield your heirs from the immoral taxes that may be levied against them.

Who the F though making death a taxable event was a good thing? Democrats.

Yep. The rich want the land so they are trying to force farmers and ranchers out of business.

Sooner or later this is going to blow up in peoples faces. They will become completely dependant on importing their countries food supplies. Then something will happen (war, drought, storms, etc) and they will not be able to get enough food for their population. People will starve and then begin rioting. Eating the rich might actually become a thing.

Short term decisions due to greed and the assumption that nothing bad will ever happen. Utter Stupidity.

Life shouldn't be that complicated.......Stop with the overregulation/taxes and that step isn't necessary.

yep.

Which is exactly Clarkson's point.

You can establish a trust, which is costly and time consuming. Some have the means to do that, some dont. Why force them to work around a dumb law, instead of preventing a dumb law to begin with?

I love the BBC reporters' question...'so how would they raise the funds to pay for the Civil Service Department'?

How about you cut cost elsewhere? How is 'rob the farmers' the solution you landed on? More tax is always the liberal answer.

Well they recently elected a labour party socialist. So this is the desired outcome. Laughably they label the Tories as conservative. It's like Obama vs Bernie.

We're in the middle of season 2 of Clarkson's Farm. It is infuriating how totalitarian the local council is over his farm. It's obvious to everyone the local council just want him to pack up and leave. Complete abuse of power.

I can only guess it gets worse in season 3.

Britain is a tory nation. They'll swing back towards the right (centre right).

When either party goes too far in the UK, they get shellacked in the subsequent election (see the most recent one where the tories lost power).

This has been the plan of the Malthusian, the Gates, the Soros's the globalist, the UN and WHO.

They set this plan up in 1968 with the elite filled Club of Rome. that started the who Climate change crisis, with a computer simulated study that led to a book called "Limits to Growth", that basically stated that CO2 was a 'earth endangering green house gas'. And led to the EPA the WHO, etc. (Now called UN Agenda 2030) and along with the WEF and other demonic global elites are pushing their great RESET. which is they being in control of every thing. It's like Specter winning LOL.

It is demonic and sick. And has been from the beginning, They are following their plan. 1. Climate change lie.

2, Create a fake pandemic (they had tried several times before the Covid scam)

That scam got broken, thought there is still a lot of residue of evil from it.

If the climate change scam gets busted (and it very will could be) they will pull out the next big scam.

4. Alien invasion - which is really nothing more than the return of the fallen angels from "the days of Noah".

We should not be naive any more.

Sorry but I believe Britain has crossed the event horizon. I don't think they are capable of enough rightward inertia to overcome the leftward gravity.

Felt the same way in the early aughts.

Then they had a decade and a half of tory rule.

We'll see. I'm hopeful.

I'm wondering if this is in one of the UK "national parks". They aren't like national parks here, a wilderness or unique geography. They are large areas of rural farmland, and the national park status seeks to protect it from large-scale development. It's more like a monster HOA.

The three seasons of his show about the farm are some of the best TV I have ever seen. I highly recommend them.

This is not new, it has been going on since the 60s. It is a battle between the haves and the have nots. The government has normally sided with the farmers, in a effort to stabilize the food markets. (The U.K. has some of the best milk you will ever taste!). Now with the influx of people the have nots are giving voice to something they do not understand and in the end the U.K. will suffer food shortages.

But what did that get them? They are closer to totalitarianism than ever before. It reminds me of times Republicans have been in control of the government and at the very best you can say they accomplished that they slowed the advance of the left. They sure as hell didn't reverse the course.

Ill never get this reference. Tory's are far from right by political standards. Brits are to bone headed to vote on a true conservative.

Kamala's taxing unrealized gains would have destroyed family farms eventually once they lowered the $ threshold, which they would have.

Also, if they ever come after stepped-up basis it would be the same thing.

Either of those are meant to transfer land ownership to the government or their super rich buddies like Bill Gates and terrorist NGOs.

We look at these other countries and see it play out there first. No different than the EUs attack on crop protection products...the same is happening here now.

An interesting observation from the show:

At the end of the first season, Clarkson tallies up his debits and credits and ends up only making a couple thousand pounds profit.

Then, layer, when they go to the city council to plead to keep their shop open (one of the few money makers), the council people keep telling Clarkson he's a rich man and therefore shouldn't care if the farm makes money. They cannot seem to grasp that the farm needs to be a profitable endeavor.

Fantastic series and I too never watched his auto shows and after watching the series I realized Jeremy was this guy:

Also, Kaleb is fantastic...love that guy. One of my favorite lines:

"Were you in a band?"
"Yes."
"I could tell."
"Why?"
"Because you left your tractor running at a pound a liter."

The conservative parties in Europe are all centre right parties.

They are a far cry from conservatives in the states obviously but always the better option to "labour" parties.

what was far worse was the fact that he was making more money for his fellow farmers around him by selling their products. It provided local jobs and better market for goods for the locals.

But it it pissed of the HOA nannies on the council.
