I've been watching top gear for nearly a decade and a half now. I started watching Clarksons farm a few years ago when it dropped.
If you don't know, Jeremy Clarkson bought a farm in England and during the pandemic his farm manager retired. Despite no experience, Clarkson decided he would run the farm. The show is following him as he absolutely fails at farming, having a 20 year old kid school him daily on how to farm and Clarkson learning to love the farm life.
Its a really great show. I highly recommend.
That said, Clarkson also learns first hand of the massive bureaucracy and very heavy handed nearly totalitarian control the British federal govt and local govts have over his personal farm.
It tells him what he can and cannot do on his farm. The city council won't even let him out a road on his farm, nor build a building because it might disturb the looks of the farm from the town. The town fails to realize it's a working farm.
Now that the labour party is back in charge, they are trying to kill off their farmers, I presume in the name of climate change and leftist style communism. They say they are going to use the new tax to pay for their Healthcare system and to discourage rich landowners from blurting farms to avoid taxes.
But, nearly every farm there is worth more than the bottom value the govt is set and therefore nearly every farm will face very high tax bills when the property is transferred.
This is on top of other onerous regs dished out one farmer like fertilizer restrictions. In the end, farmers already have a hard enough time making money there, this will only hasten the destruction of Britain's agricultural communities.

Quote:
the UK now wants to impose harsh inheritance taxes on farms - even small ones.
Starting in 2026, farms worth more than 1m will be subject to a tax of TWENTY PERCENT.
