not quite following you on the hitler thing. that is not what the actionable statement in the Sandmann case was. and we haven't seen this Trump lawsuit, but I guarantee you its not over calling him hitler.

where did you see the media admitted the stories weren't rooted in fact? everything I saw said it was confidential terms, and generally in a settlement neither side admits or denies liability

…theres also the wrinkle about broadcast licenses. The FCC has authority over the MSM that they don't have over independents, and they agree to abide by standards that are tighter than the 1st amendment. At a minimum their broadcast licenses should be called into question.

Right now most people recognize that the media had its thumb on the scale against Trump. If he loses this case, which he very likely will, it gives them some cover they didn't have.

Just like the half-arsed legal challenges to the 2020 election which failed obscured the very real circumstances with the Covid-excused mail-in ballot laxity from getting due attention.

The main thing that could reform the media is public opinion turning against it so heavily. We're already there.

Need to widen the suit. EVERY media outlet from both sides of the fence is biased. As to defamation he needs to be careful what he wishes for since he did plenty of defaming himself.

Hitler reference is in relation to Trump, not Sandman. But they tried to destroy that kid as a racist without any proof.

As I recall it, for the Sandman settlement they paid a confidential settlement and also went back and edited stories to include proper context.
