Doubt it goes anywhere, but we shall see... I bet the discovery would be pretty interesting.

To prove this, he would have had to lose the election, no?

1st amendment be damned.

The 1st amendment is not in play here.

That's on the media? Using your logic, all the crap being said about the other side would have the exact same merit.

This just feels like a really slippery slope, that's all.

He could be doing it to expose the belly of the beast. Public reaction could provide the kill shot.

It's not slippery at all. Individuals sue other individuals and organizations all the time for libel and slander.

Except it doesn't "happen on both sides." These networks have knowingly lied, defamed, and attempted to ruin him for years, and were paid to do it.

Is his attorney filing the suit? The guy that was nominated for Asst AG? I would think that would be problematic if he gets confirmed.

Damages could be campaign expenses needed to counter their lies, down ballot losses that impact his ability to get legislation passed, etc.

My assumption is he is doing this to put them on notice in hopes it will help reduce their bias and propaganda lies while he is president. They will need to think twice before they do more Russia Russia Russia type lies as it will only help Trumps chances to win this.

I don't see the point in this. It's next to impossible to win these suits for someone like Trump.

It seems as the MSM was constantly lying, you see that on the View everyday. I really don't think Fox or the right leaning news outlets kept pushing what everybody knows to be false. The whole Russia narrative was untrue and most folks knew that, yet they kept pushing that false story.

I really hope something goes forward and the "Yellow Journalism" crap just gets cleaned up. Free speech is one thing, Telling the while country a lie via a platform needs to be assessed.

Would Trump be able to use ongoing litigation against those media outlets to justify excluding them from the White House? And by extension the press briefings?

Alex jones gets sued for hurting feelings and is bankrupt now after a billion dollars awarded
Trump denies accusations from a certified loon making 40 year old allegations with no facts to back them up..sued for slander

Who cares. I bet Trump would be extremely happy if the entire country, in a very public trial, gets to see this nest of marxist rats exposed.

You're completely wrong.

If this exposes communications that show who pushed them, paid them, and how, it has a chance to reform the media. That's a huge deal.

Quit with the nice guy routine. That's over, thank God.

I want them to eliminate the press pool entirely. During an (R) presidency they seek fame from gotcha questions and dishonest framing. During a (D) presidency they lob softballs for the appearance of accountability but the secretary dodges any question which demands a substantive answer. So it's a facade of a bygone era when the 4th estate had principles & only nostalgia and a relatively recent "tradition" make us think it should continue.

Instead the press secretary should give regular (daily / weekly) updates & schedule senior admin officials to long form interviews with media interviewers of numerous stripes. The Jim Acosta who flings a question from a pool of his peers would be very different in a 3 hour conversation with RFK Jr. that was being broadcast live* without edit on X, YouTube, Rumble, & CSPAN.

Hope he wins. The media needs to be brought to heel in some way. They are no longer reporting news but rather political opinions slanted heavily to one side disguised as news. 60 Minutes edited a clip of Kamala to make her look better to directly influence the election.

How much has CBS et al claimed they've contributed to the Harris campaign? I mean, they're either claiming to be neutral or they made a massive contribution to her campaign.
