Which of Donald's cabinet picks will not make it through the confirmation process?

Gaetz is on the top of my list.

Think Gaetz is only one. Think GOP Senators hate him more than the Democrats.

Any chance Gaetz was nominated just to give them one to reject?

No…go back and count how many cabinet nominees have been rejected in modern presidential elections…

I doubt Hegseth makes it. 50/50 feeling on Gatez atm.

Yeah kind of. If I had to pick one it's him. I think the tattoos are gonna be a circus. He's got a Templar cross and deus vult which the left is gonna claim are white supremacy symbols.

I think that idiocy may provide enough cover for some Rs to vote against

They only have so many that they can reject. They will have to pick and choose which they want to focus on rejecting. Maybe that is Gaetz or Hegseth. I don't think they can reject both.

I think that any R who votes against any nominee will be a primary target their next time to run, and Elon will fund their opponent…

There's a better than even chance all make it through, but the two which have (so far) raised the most rancor have to be Gaetz and RFK Jr., followed by Tulsi Gabbard and Pete Hegseth, and all for different reasons.

Personally, the primary one I care about, and which I think many would agree, is RFK Jr. Elon and Vivek's DOGE will be outside the government and require no confirmation.

Gaetz is the most likely to be pruned and frankly there's a lot of folks who could get into the DOJ and effect institutional change without the baggage.

Y'all realize that the last nominee to be rejected by the Senate was John Tower in 1989, and it was a D controlled Senate turning away an R President's nominee, right?

R's will band together or be held accountable…book it…

Check out this lead in by MSM. Totally bias spin, but since they got the official ABC background music, graphics, and the polished anchorman, it "feels" good to trust. So many Americans brainwashed. The press truly is the enemy of the people.

I can see one, definitely not two. They'll be forced to ram them through too. Thune is saying all the right stuff. We'll see.

You can have 3 deflections and that's it. That would bring it to the VP

That idiot in Ohio needs to pick JDs replacement asap. Watch him pick John Fing Kasich lmao

There have been others who withdrew their nomination when it became clear they didn't have the votes. Trump had four in his last administration, although one was eventually resubmitted and made it through. Obama had three. I don't think this is near the slam dunk you think it is, but we'll see...

I think Elon has made it clear…go against the nominees and face being primaried…

I think Trump having the mandate of electoral landslide, popular vote win, and having long enough coattails to carry both the House and Senate is enough to get the the Rs to fall in line…

ETA: the one caveat that could come into play is giving Rs who don't want to vote for this guy or that girl some cover by saying "ok, you don't have to vote for them, but you do have to vote for a recess so that they can take their seats without your vote"…

As much as Dem talking heads want to make this into something evil, if you are going to go against your party and try to help subvert what the American people just elected because MSM said his tattoos were bad, then you deserve to be primaried.

Did you not see the election? Trump trounced Harris in both the electoral college and the popular vote. That's the very definition of a MANDATE from the American People. The republicans have a majority in the Senate. Any Republican that votes against a Trump appointee is a dead man walking.

We'll see. I voted for Trump a third time and I'm glad he won. I pretty much think it's his choice on how he staffs his Cabinet, although the Senate does have a constitutional role to approve or deny.

There's understandably a lot of euphoria from Trump voters, myself included, but it's also important to put this in perspective. Right now he's ahead in the popular vote 51% to 49%. That's a win, but it's not near as overwhelming as some portray it. The electoral college was a solid win but nothing approaching a Reagan or Obama (1st term) landslide.

If there's nothing really damaging about his nominees, then I expect they'll get through. If real dirt pops up on one ore more, their odds go down. Again, I'm not making absolute predictions either way. Too early. I hope it's smooth sailing.

I respect what you're saying but think you're overthinking things…

It's very simple…support his nominees or expect to face a well-funded primary opponent…

And I don't think that scares people near as much as you think it does, especially people who make decisions based on core values that are more important to them than the flavor of the day. The bloom will come off of Elon's rose when he starts calling for drastic reductions in government agencies. I'll probably agree with him, but I'd bet a pretty penny that resistance to Elon will grow in proportion to the depth of his proposed cuts.

Time has a way of clearing things out. All this noise might fade away and Trump gets all his picks through without too much drama, or more info comes to light and some don't make it. I'm just glad he's calling the shots, and more important than his Cabinet picks, I want to see him and the R Congress pass meaningful legislation that advances a conservative agenda.

The bloom hasn't faded from Soros's rose…

Elon has even more $…

And I know that Cornyn is so nervous about being primaried, that he's considering retirement rather than losing (and that's coming from someone with deep ties to Texas Republicans, and was based on meetings they had internally yesterday morning)…

Whatever was said in the closed door meetings yesterday has folks nervous…

Several have already gone from wishy-washy to "Trump deserves to get his team"…

Thune promised Trump he would deliver in return for Trump's backing…

I'm telling you…Senators didn't just find out yesterday who some of the nominees were going to be and who they would have to get onboard with…regardless of what they are saying publicly…

They may allow Ds to put on a good show with this nominee or that, but at the end of the day, I expect them to either fall in line or come to agreement on a recess…

Gaetz was so unexpected that I wonder if he was selected to take attention away from somewhere or if he will eventually step aside and let someone else get in easier than expected. For example, after a big show with Gaetz, Paxton might not look as bad and get confirmed easier.

Gaetz. Everyone else gets confirmed.

Gaetz has too many enemies everywhere. No dem will vote for him. Safe to say Murkowski, Collins, and turtle will not vote for him for him. There are plenty of RINOs that are questionable.

I think RFK Jr's anti-vax (and all vax, not just C-19) stance might be what takes him down even with republicans. I'm picking up a lot of REEEEEE from both sides over that already.
