This would be huge.

I support this happening. She did great in the campaign role/at the RNC, and would have excellent contact/relationships/influence as a rookie senator.

Who is the candidate most likely to retain the seat once the appointment term is up?

Florida is so red I doubt any of the prospects will face a strong enough challenger to put that in question. We have the Trump name statewide margin already, but I am sure Donalds would do great as well. This would cause more Dem/TDS heads to explode though.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

Don't like twitter mob being the way we are choosing people to government

And then everyone cries when the perceived trump favorite doesn't win

All she managed to do was:
1. First republican to win the popular vote in presidential bid
2. Increase senate lead
3. Retain the house
4. Make weak crybabies whine about nepotism.

I mean I guess that is decent.

The optics of Trump's daughter being the next wave is so much better than Don Jr. (Who really was a nobody this cycle).

Which is why she should stay as RNC co-chair. Not Senator.

What are her policy positions? I want the most electable conservative that can be appointed by DeSantis. I don't care about flashy candidates. I want a hard working, low profile, no nonsense conservative who won't be co-opted by DC. That's a lot to ask but if there is any Republican politician who has a track record in selecting those people DeSantis is the one. I trust he will pick the right one and I doubt any twitter campaign or pressure will affect his selection.

Id be surprised if it's not her. The Marco Rubio pick makes more sense if it also gets Lara Trump in the Senate (from Trump's perspective.)

Pam Bondi is my choice.

Lara needs to stay where she is and start working on 2026 midterms. Her work there is not done and should not be over.

Yep. I personally hate them. Over 50% of this country would vote for Michelle Obama for no reason other than her husband.

I support this happening. She did great in the campaign role/at the RNC, and would have excellent contact/relationships/influence as a rookie senator.
Does she officially reside in Florida? Or does that matter anymore.

Michelle has the ~1% Trans vote, so 49%

Stupid. I hope DeSantis says, yeah, no, she can run for it if she wants it and let the people of Florida decide next time there is an election.

Appoint someone that has lived in Florida for more than 2 seconds and isn't already holding a job because of nepotism.

We finally got a competent RNC chair. Would love for her to stay in that role through 2028 and mentor the next RNC chair along the way.

Totally would want Bondi as Rubio's replacement as she's more than qualified.

She's from North Carolina.

This is a terrible idea. She married into the Trump family and has been Co Chair of the RNC for a few months. That's about it. She has a Communications Degree from NC State and worked in TV. This is next level nepotism.

Florida especially has a lot of folks who have worked for years making that state Red and could really help to bring that to DC so instead we are just going to force in Trump's Daughter in Law instead of building on that? Let me guess, if DeSantis doesn't go along with this he is "disloyal" too.

BTW, all Lara Trump did was implement some of the ideas that Harmeet Dhillon was going to do is she had been elected RNC Chair but Donald endorsed Romney.

After the Bush's I am done with voting for people because of a family name. Make her earn it. Would anyone think she is the best candidate with a different last name? I am just amazed at how many of you think this is a good idea. Oh, and her openly campaigning for the job is pretty gross.

Agree. Between her and Whatley kept their eye on the ball. Made excellent use of third parties like Scott Presler and several other groups for voter outreach to low or no propensity voters in battleground states. Need to keep those voters engaged and not wait until the next cycle to contact them again. It is an ongoing process, not a one and done.

For years, that is exactly how the Democratic Party has treated certan constituencies, particularly in high density urban areas. See you in four years! Thanks!

And that's why we saw such a shift in Latino and Black males, working class.

So Lara for the win.
