Interesting. The start of the Trump dynasty. Cherry pick Rubio out and give him Sec of State with the promise of Lara Trump taking a Senate seat (As long as DeSantis agrees). Wonder what DeSantis is getting out of it?

You act like DeSantis has a choice. If he wants to have a small law practice in southern Florida, cross Trump or his family members. All these people that still think DeSantis is the next front runner are going to be sorely disappointed. Nikki neutered him in the primaries and she's back hustling curry at the family restaurant and DeSantis has hit his peak for now unless he's foolish enough to cross Trump. DeSantis has been a great governor but he has no charisma whatsoever. If anyone thinks charisma doesn't matter good luck in your future endeavors.

Have to agree, like DeSantis, but I "feel" Vance is much more likeable, or he came off that way in this campaign to a lot of folk I've talked to.

I think it would be a mistake to announce AG until senate majority leader is announced, or at least internally confirmed which right now it isn't. Don't let Cornyn stake his flag on crushing this nomination right out of the gate.

I like Laura Trump for how well she did during the election, but I have a ton of faith in Ron DeSantis picking a hell of a conservative to take Rubio's place in the senate. I doubt it's Laura Trump.

Your slip is showing. I don't hate DeSantis you cannot show a single post of mine that says that. But I did call out his run for POTUS demise when he went up against Trump and it came to fruition. HELL he couldn't even beat Nikki. He's been great for Florida and I liked his as a senator, but he's not ready for the top seat. He's too stiff and unrelatable. He's an awkward public speaker. He's highly intelligent but dry toast when it comes to motivation. The record is on video. As I stated before it takes a lot of charisma to run a country that's the lead in the world. It also takes a killer and IMHO DeSantis comes up short in both. He took over a red state that's like shooting fish in a barrel after Trump burned the cane fields and drove out the snakes. If DeSantis wants to impress me squash Debbie Wasserman Shultz

Fine, you don't hate DeSantis, but FL wasn't exactly as Red as you claim it was when he took over, that's either ignorance on your part or revisionist thinking. As someone who actually lives in Florida, I can tell you Trump did not "burn the cane fields and drive out the snakes", lol. It was DeSantis' leadership over the past six years that turned Florida deep red.

If he goes on to have continued public service at the state or federal level, that's fantastic for everyone, including you. If he doesn't simply because he hurt Trump's feelings then that's a shame and a loss for everyone, because DeSantis has been a scurge upon the Dems since he's stepped foot into office.

Trump beat DeSantis, not Haley. Just because he dropped out before her doesn't mean she beat him….. he was clearly the #2 behind Trump. Haley had small pull in small sections, but that was it.

I am a big DeSantis fan, but I also recognize his lack of charisma. I think he would make a great President. I'm hoping he gets his shot, but I honestly like Vance better, and there are a couple of other possibilities that have emerged….

Trump needs an attack dog in the AG spot, and Paxton fits that description well.

No idea who else is under consideration, but I'm sure Paxton would do a good job.

This position was the biggest misses of Trump's first term, and I'm sure he knows that.

This is pretty baseless conjecture. Sorry!
Not at all. Paxton has had mixed results fighting with DC and he's never done anything outside of Texas (Leg to AG). He still has his legal issues that he can't seem to put away.

Trump can literally have anyone for this role, Paxton wouldn't make my Top 10.

Interesting that you would try to call others on their bias while spouting absolute bull***** DeSantis completely flipped Florida. Not one single conservative has any fear of which way Florida would go, yet Obama won it twice and some hanging chads gave it to Bush.

I get that you don't like DeSantis challenging Trump in the primary, but there was good reason to fear a 2020 repeat. Trump and DeSantis seem to have come to terms. And this is good news because Florida has become the absolute beacon of Republican policy the last 6 years. To say that DeSantis had come up short as a "killer" (to use your words) all while making Florida a Democrat-free zone is ******ed.

Ditto....however, if it gets us a fresh state AG, I'm all for it. Tired of the needless lawsuits that are just for show and to keep himself in the graces of Trump. I want someone focused on Texas and things that benefit me and my family and not constantly going after his political enemies.

Nepotism doesn't bother me at all if it is a competent and effective leader. Such qualities can be influenced by genetics and upbringing, such as intelligence, personality type, etc. Itbis not uncommon to see a single family generate a series of effective or even exceptional leaders before regressing to the mean. As long as the individual is amongst the best choices, mere family associations shouldn't be disqualifying.

That's a pretty low bar.
Paxton faced nine years of lawfair for alleged financial crimes, namely failing to register as an "agent". Rather than bankrupting himself he agreed to pay restitution to the supposedly duped "investors". The charges rose to the bogusness of charges face by Trump. But in the end the charges were dropped.

And then he was impeached for allegedly helping a friend. It was a political vendetta, and he was acquitted of corruption charges in the impeachment trial. He was also reelected a couple times. So, the fact finders in the Texas Senate, the electorate, and the federal investigators all determined that he was indeed not corrupt. I don't know all the details and it's my guess he did some things he regrets. That nevertheless pales in comparison to Garland who completely dove into lawfair against Trump, who killed investigations into Hunter Biden, who did nothing to investigate the disparate treatment the FBI pursued against conservative groups and did nothing to protect the rights of people who happened to be in Washington DC on January 6th.

BS. Paxton filed over 100 lawsuits against the Biden administration...And I have no problem with him attacking them for something that will benefit me. And I'm not saying some weren't indirectly beneficial. But if you think the intent of all his lawsuits was purely for Texas families/residents, and not to detract from his other personal problems or to curry favor for Trump, or get re-elected well then I guess his plan has worked with some.
Some of the immigration suits were warranted, but spending his time through everything against the wall to see what sticks is a waste of my tax payer money. Especially when he loses many of them and knew he likely would. Many were mostly political to maintain his support. And to be very honest, I and my family have not personally benefitted from them.

Surprising that you think that other conservatives have to support every lawsuit Paxton filed. Almost like they should do it blindly. Sorry, but integrity, though seemingly less important for some today, is an important facet in my support of politicians.
