You don't think it's going to cost Trump anything to pull a guy Cornyn has vowed to block across the finish line? It's going to cost him. Maybe a squishy Texas judge nomination for a Cornyn crony. Maybe putting a Cornyn ally into a key political position. I don't know what it is going to cost, but it is going to be expensive.

And the confirmation hearing will be a rehash of every second of the Paxton impeachment trial, except the Senate isn't going to give two beans whether he's guilty or not.

The time for knowing players and influencing is over. That was the first term and they stifled him. The time for multiple layers of head chopping of leadership in all departments and replacing with non-DC folks is now. It is time to replace a lot of players

Cornyn is practically untouchable by any primary challenger at this point. He has the money Hoovered up to keep a challenger (that cannot self fund) to beat him.

I had occasion to address an issue at HUD that could have very adversely affected my industry. At the time, Cornyn, Kaye Bailey were Senators and Lloyd Doggett (blech) my House rep.

Had meaningful dialogue with KBH's office. Not a damn peep from either Cornyn nor Doggett. Not even, "We received your inquiry and will look into it," nada, nothing.

You act like DeSantis has a choice. If he wants to have a small law practice in southern Florida, cross Trump or his family members. All these people that still think DeSantis is the next front runner are going to be sorely disappointed. Nikki neutered him in the primaries and she's back hustling curry at the family restaurant and DeSantis has hit his peak for now unless he's foolish enough to cross Trump. DeSantis has been a great governor but he has no charisma whatsoever. If anyone thinks charisma doesn't matter good luck in your future endeavors.

Self fund? If Trump wants to throw his weight behind a candidate against him, that candidate will have no trouble with funds. Taking on Trump is not a smart move right now if you purport yourself to be part of the GOP. He consistently outperformed the rest of the GOP senate across the country in this election, Texas included.

Spent by DEMS. This is a different animal and it would have a guy that outperformed Cruz behind it. Trump already has a legacy of being a headache for GOP swamp rats in primaries, and he's never had more power than he does right now.
