No, because that is what he ran on and he didn't sugarcoat it. It might be scary for an individual congress-critter whose contingency doesn't support deportation, but on the whole it appears to be a winning issue for Rs generally. Especially if they focus on criminals, I think it will be a strong positive.

Securing the border and clearing the backlog of unadjudicated asylum cases would go a long way toward accomplishing the same goal.

Past that, working with local and state law enforcement to identify and deport aliens with additional criminal activity (other than just being here illegally) would be a next logical step.

We're a looooong way away from just finding law abiding (other than illegally entering the country or overstaying visas) aliens and sticking them on the bus. While that may be on the menu, I don't think it is something to even worry about in the near term.

My understanding of international asylum law is that an asylum seeker must seek asylum in the first country he enters after leaving his own. If my understanding is correct then anyone who crossed the border on land and is seeking asylum needs to be a Canadian or Mexican citizen or legal resident. That should take the asylum cases down to a manageable number.

If you are talking about me, then you are wrong. It's 99.99% certain that I am more conservative than you.

I want Trump to cut 90% of the government. I want him to abolish 11 of the 15 departments. I want him to eliminate the income tax completely. I want him to eliminate welfare, social security, medicare, medicaid, the Fed, and much more. Can you say the same? I assume not.

I fear that going house to house deporting illegals who have been here for 20 years who have kids in schools will be a political disaster and make REAL government cuts impossible. That he will blow his wad on this, and get nothing done. Except hand democrats the presidency in 2028.

Having that fear is as unreasonable as watching MSNBC. There's just no plausible scenario where it actually plays out like that.

There really aren't going to be "mass deportations" like the Cherokee Trail of Tears. I know that's what the media is portraying it as but what is going to happen is they go after known violent offenders first kicking in doors if they have to. The migrant caravans will be forced to turn around and go back before they get here. Then raids and enforcement on businesses that employ illegals will occur and the number of businesses willing to risk hiring them drops and a huge number of them decide to go back on their own. We cut off their benefits and the rest go back.

Deport them all to Blue states while awaiting adjudication

That way the sanctuary states can have what they wanted with no federal assistance bailing them out

You'll see them all suddenly get real Martha's Vineyard about "poor refugees"

A. The Dems WILL find sob stories. Just look at how they contorted that abortion pill complication death to advance their narrative. If they can't find a sob story they'll fabricate one.
B. The real trick is going to be undoing the Dem amnesty cluster. The Dems are going to provide lawyers to try to block accelerating of hearings and denying asylum shopping.
C. Once asylum claims are denied, then it's a matter of cutting off benefits and employability to get them to self deport. This includes notification to employers with that this employee is losing their legal status and that they are likely to be reviewed if the employee overstays their departure requirement.
D. We can fund flights back to country of departure, but should try to use civilian resources to avoid the "cOnCEntRaTioN CaMp!" rhetoric.

Hannity had Homan on last night and I really got a bad vibe from that guy. Doesn't seem to be very politically adept.

He did say they will go after criminals and gang members first, which not many should have issues with, but if/ when they start separating families it's going to get ugly.
They govt. shouldn't separate familiies. The families can choose to stay together and go with their illegal alien family member or THEY can choose to be separated.

We're broke. Once this is seriously implemented, the border traffic will all but cease, self deportation will start when they learn they'll be eligible to apply legally at a later date and the process will take shape

If Trump has no intention of deporting families like that, then he should come out and say that specifically NOW. There is a Senate majority leader vote tomorrow, and I think this is a big reason that many senators are aligning against Trump. If he gets McConnell 2.0, then he will get NOTHING done for 4 years.

I think you address the low hanging fruit

1. Stop the flow coming in
2. Deport anyone that you have or get from enforcing our laws (criminals, illegal workers, etc)
3. Stop the entitlements
4. Create and enforce laws that will shut down the ability for illegals to ever vote.

Try and make something idiot proof, and all they do is make a better idiot.

Then your head is in the sand. People voted for a secure border. Deportation was on the ballot as well, but if they aren't thoughtful in incentivizing illegals to come forward in some way, rather than raiding homes and business, then kiss the middle class-terms and the next presidential election goodbye.

Listened to Homan on Maria Bartiromo this a.m. Not going to be mass deportations. There are so many criminal and terrorist illegals to go after, due to the increased number of crossings and decreased number of deportations the last four years, that will take much of their resources. Anything beyond that will be dependent on resources allocated to the Border Patrol. He was very firm about sanctuary cities. Said you can cooperate or get out of the way because we are coming with whatever is necessary to detain the criminal aliens, even if no local resources are made available.

I do not want to go after people who have been here for 10+ years or anything...unless they are criminals or tax evaders. That being said, the 15MM+ that were let in over the last 4 years should go. That was an intentional sabotage by the dems, and a lot of very bad people were let in. We need to obviously start by getting rid of all of the violent criminals, but then we need to chip away at these recent invaders.

Just my opinion. Personally, there are some illegals who came here a long time ago who I have come to respect, or are friends with their offspring...I don't want to see them removed. And I think if we try taking that approach, it could be a monumental political disaster...political suicide.

Every latino you know knows some good friends or family, who are good people, who came here illegally, or whose parents did.

The ship has sailed...but we need to focus on the recent immigrants for sure.

Incoming border chief Homan has made it clear that the administration will target criminals, not the working folks. I also hope the DoJ will also target sanctuary city/county/state officials who obstruct removal operations by concealing information on criminal aliens and file criminal charges on them. The chaos that has been wrought on our society by the Biden administration must be reversed and some semblance of order reinstated.

Good list.

I would add #5 & #6.

5. Any noncitizen detained for any reason that did not come through an authorized border crossing and is in the system waiting on a court date is a likely "gotaway". Subject to immediate deportation to country of origin. State and Local authorities that do not cooperate with information sharing and/or are caught not complying with ICE detainers are subject to loss of all federal dollars.

6. All noncitizen residents currently waiting on a court date for asylum ajudication have a 60 day window to "check in". Verify where you are, that you are gainfully employed, and acknowledge your court date.

Failure to do so places you in a nonresponsive status and you are subject to deportation.

(If they were going to abuse the system by claiming asylum at the border, force them to stay on the radar.)

Why does length of the crime matter? A bunch of you are saying "well, if they've been here ten or twenty years, they should stay."

Why? Logically, that is ridiculous. They broke the law to get here, just like the recent influx of people who have come here.

Do we also say "well, if the murder you committed was ten years ago, we'll let it slide."

From a political perspective, I know that he can't deport maids who have families that have been here for a long time, but from an individual perspective, why are some of you ok with it?

Breaking the law is breaking the law. The law has no purpose if we look away sometimes, but throw the book at others who committed the exact same offense.

As a quick answer, and admittedly a politically expedient one, even with crimes there's a concept of Statute of Limitations. Maybe not for murder, but definitely for non-felony type of crimes.

If someone is here for an extended period of time, has a clean record, has assimilated into our society and is a productive member, I'm for cutting them a little slack.

Again, there's so much low hanging fruit with the 15+million that have arrived within the last 4 years that I believe that is where our focus should be.

I'm all for shutting down the borders and expelling violent criminals (after they complete their prison terms). My issue is if he spends billions of dollars going after people who's only crime is sneaking over the border. We don't have extra money to spend. And he needs a lot of political capital to cut all the other things he wants to cut. If the entire GOP congress thinks they will lose their seats over Trump, then they won't vote for anything he wants.

This. Mass deportations will never happen, but going after all the criminals and such will make a huge difference. They need to publicize the hell out of it. Every time they catch some pedophile or murderer or career criminal - just to remind people what Biden let in the country
