I'd love to see a flourishing Mexico, but there's no realistic hope of internal reform. The cartel has infected the political apparatus to a terminal degree. I don't trust the CIA to take it back either, but our history of small wars in Latin America shows what can be done when a contingent of honest military members seize power from corrupt locals… although it's immediately undone when they leave. Long term occupation as a puppet state is about the best possibility for them at this point.
