I have a feeling that Puerto Rico will become the 51st state sometime in the next 30 years.

Hawaii was the last state admitted to the United States and that was in 1959.
The USA has only had 50 states for the past 65 years or so.

There is going to be a lot of pressure over the next 50 years to turn Washington DC and Puerto Rico into states #51 and 52.

Dade County in Miami is heavily Republican for an inner city county.
There is no reason the Republicans couldn't represent Puerto Rico.....especially if the island is turned into a tropical gambling paradise.

DC would totally be in the tank for the Democrats, but the flip side is that very few people live in Wyoming, Idado or the Dakota's...yet the GOP has 8 senator from these states.

The GOP has 8 senators from these 4 states that represent about 4 million people.
That is less people that live in Dallas or Houston.

That's not how it works because the senate as composed with the states we have works as it is supposed to. You trying to get to a tyrannical majority vote? Apportion the vote and representation by population? How about eight senators from California and one each for Wyoming, North and South Dakota and Montana? You think we need some changes? Why now? Probably because the electoral college gets in the way as does Twitter with simple winner take all majority rule.

Hawaii and Alaska are not any more "American" than DC or Puerto Rico.

What I'm explaining to you is that in the next 30-50 years there will be a strong push to add #51 and 52 to the United States.

Residents of Puerto Rico are United States Citizens, but Puerto Rico is at this point just a territory.
The idea is to make PR an island version of Las Vegas and have it be a resort type of place.

The idea of Puerto Rico statehood has bipartisan support from both major political parties.

Not hearing anything about it. If it doesn't happen in two and a half months, try again in four to eight years. Let Puerto Rico become the paradise they want it to be.

the "idea" of DC and PR statehood is because control of the Senate has been razor thin bouncing on either side of 50-50 for quite a while and adding these two would give the marxist regime +4 and near permanent control of the highest level lawmaking body that ratifies all of the regime's nominees and judicial appointees.

The other argument goes that Puerto Rico has a national guard that has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
For many people that are foreign to the USA...... serving in the military is a gateway to citizenship.

How is the USA gonna say that your good enough to wear our nations uniform, and die in our wars, but not good enough to actually be one of us?

The reason that PR statehood has bipartisan support is that the United States wants its own tropical Version of Las Vegas. There are going to be major casinos and hotel chains that are going to set up shop in Puerto Rico.

I would also assume that Fort Buchanon will become a much larger military installation if PR becomes an official state

Puerto Rico makes much more sense as an American state than Hawaii or Alaska.

Quote:

The military defense of Puerto Rico is the responsibility of the United States as part of the Treaty of Paris. Locally, Puerto Rico has its own National Guard, the Puerto Rico National Guard, and its own state defense force, the Puerto Rico State Guard, which, by local law, is under the authority of the Puerto Rico National Guard.

The Adjutant General, in turn, delegates the authority over the State Guard to another officer but retains the authority over the Puerto Rico National Guard as a whole. At the national level, the commander-in-chief is the President of the United States, currently Joe Biden.

There is no ignorance. The way our constitution is set up is that it amplifies the voice of people that live in these mostly useless states where very few people live.

4 million people spread through these 4 state have 8 senators that represent them....while the 30 million people in Texas get 2, and the 40 million in California get 2.

If you look at the demographics of the 2 places..... its pretty easy to understand why Wyoming gets 2 senators, but Washington DC does not.

There is going to be a New World Order and they aint respecting old arrangements. There is going to be a major push over the next 20-23 years to have Puerto Rico and Washington DC become #51 and 52.

I suspect the reason you are so passionate about this subject (that you have to resort to juvenile name calling) is that you are succinctly aware the reason DC has no representation in the US senate is that its population is mostly black.

The ignorance of not understanding a Constitutional Republic and the difference between Senators and Representatives.

Senators don't represent people. Hth
There is no ignorance. The way our constitution is set up is that it amplifies the voice of people that live in these mostly useless states where very few people live.

4 million people spread through these 4 state have 8 senators that represent them....while the 30 million people in Texas get 2, and the 40 million in California get 2.
And its been this way since the constitution was ratified. You dont like it then leave. Simple solution. You are better off and so is everyone else.
I aint leaving my man. I'm proud to be an American......where at least I know Im free!

We are going to conquer the infidels middle America and push the nonbelievers capitalist out of the cities into the sticks.

Yeah good luck with that commie. Texas is still red and thats why its booming. Is Cali ? It rose as a red State and is dying as a blue one. Most Texans are smarter than that.

You are welcome to leave Texas for a place like Idado or Wyoming. You first. People like me, business owner, built Texas. Low regulation, easy access to capital and markets. Your ilk will kill that as they always do. Again Just ask Cali.

TTU,

People like me are coming to take over and we are pushing your ilk out.
Your voting block dies quicker than any other demographic....and thus why the great replacement is underway.

China went through this great political war between the Nationalist and Communist Part between 1920 and 1950 until the Communist won and took over all of China.
Its very similar to what has happened between the Right and left for the past 60 years.

The NWO will be pushing for DC and Puerto Rico to become states.

One of these days we are going to have to stop them. How about a large 51st state?
I have a feeling that Puerto Rico will become the 51st state sometime in the next 30 years.

Hawaii was the last state admitted to the United States and that was in 1959.
The USA has only had 50 states for the past 65 years or so.

There is going to be a lot of pressure over the next 50 years to turn Washington DC and Puerto Rico into states #51 and 52.

It's pressure to insure four democrat senators.

I can't tell if this is a troll or a 1st grade understanding of civics...

I vote for the first grade understanding explanation.

Someone was never taught in school that the Senate was designed to represent the state governments, not people. A clue is right there in the name of the country.
oh no

Lack of understanding of the differences between the two chambers of congress, why a state like Wyoming has the same representation as a state like California in the Senate, and why that's important in a republic, is the type of crap intentionally programmed to create ******ed communist supporters.

Yes, you just proved the ignorance. These "useless" states feed you and keep you alive and our Founding Fathers were intelligent enough, obviously far more than you, to understand they needed protection and a voice. Your representatives represent you, the individual. Again, SENATORS REPRESENT THE STATE NOT THE PEOPLE, the population doesn't matter. How many representatives does California have compared to South Dakota?
Then.......You shouldn't have any issues with Washington DC or Puerto Rico gaining statehood.
Washington DC also deserves to be represented in the United States Senate.

I suspect the reason you are so passionate about this subject (that you have to resort to juvenile name calling) is that you are succinctly aware the reason DC has no representation in the US senate is that its population is mostly black.

Can't believe you went there and it's allowed to stay up.

I can't believe how far off the rails this thread went.

I went to PDC at least twice per year from 2002 to about 2013. Went back with the kids in 2017. Doubt we go back. We didn't stay AI - always in a boutique hotel on the beach in town -- and never really felt unsafe. Reason we won't be going back is partially because of safety, but mostly because PDC lost its small-town, local charm and is now just Cancun Jr.

As for the rest of Central America, Costa Rica has already been mentioned and is fantastic. They have caught on though, and it is no longer cheap.

I'll throw in a vote for Belize. We had a great time - half in the jungle and half on the water. Unbelievable scenery and snorkeling. Never once felt unsafe except when I almost got pickpocketed near the water taxi port in Belize City.
