curious on the logistics of this. are they renting helicopters or do they bring their own. and do they fly them in from out of state/county, or do they flatbed them into the general area?Quote:
Every night I sat at the Texas Roadhouse bar and talked to different pilots who had come from all over to do what they could.

I think for the first time in US history, the government is literally cash strapped and broke. They have literally given so much to illegals, Ukraine, Israel, etc, and robbed FEMA with no thought to what would happen if there is a huge natural disaster. The worst case scenario has happened and now they have no clue how to pay for this, nor handle this...
They are probably just going to slow play it and leave Trump with a huge huge fricking mess and then point the finger and say look what a disaster of a President Trump is, blah blah blah..They don't want to cut off all the aid to their special illegals that will vote for them in the future, and it would be a huge disaster if they did and all these criminal illegals hit the streets doing 3rd world type crap to survive since the government isn't paying the bills anymore.
Excellent post. Trump ought to run this as an ad. Just one more example of executive incompetence from this administration and this party.Ramdiesel said:one safe place said:Not even enough to replace a single 40 foot long two lane bridge on a rural road.TAMUallen said:This dude bout to get ratio’d https://t.co/eJ4JfNLdt9

I work in brokerage at a very large trucking/logistics company. I can verify that. I wait daily for customers or anyone to reach out for hurricane relief and for loads to heat up going to affected areas. We're still just waiting. There's nothing. I've been doing this since 2009 and there have been countless disaster type situations. This didn't happen then. It's very strange.
No. Just not the way that works. The loads get as close as they can but the hauls happen during a normal disaster relief effort.Quote:
Taking off the tinfoil, is this simply because you can't physically truck anything in or get close enough for proper distribution. All of the roads and bridges are out.
This has primarily been a rescue operation dependent on airdrop first mile and middle mile with final mile serviced by pack animals, ATVs, and 4WD.

We've officially found our first free swamp tour customer! So whoever the douche nozzle was that deliberately rotor washed the Burnsville POD, this was a hostile act that broke a $hitload of really good @FAANews laws! You can clearly see our logo on the supplies! Good luck trying… https://t.co/sBxSTWy7jU

My grandma was just found last night with a broken hip and 2 broken legs and a broken arm she was in a mountain 7 miles aways from her home on a tree found alive lastnight. They told us her homes was gone and she was dwad. I'm flying out to see her tomorrow at the hospital she said she was in the river for miles and miles and all she could see was dead bodies all over
Geez, I don't know about that one. If real though, that is the stuff of absolute nightmares.Serious Lee said:

Genuine question...what do they do with a town like that? I am assuming even the buildings that remain are complete losses bc they are structurally compromised. Do you just raze the entire town? There's no coming back from that right? So sad either way.Ramdiesel said:

Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are major tourist draws. Chimney Rock didn't go anywhere, and Lake Lure will be cleaned up.William Foster said:Genuine question...what do they do with a town like that? For those who have flood insurance, the insurance companies will cover the cost of rebuilding. Actually, not the insurance companies, but the US Government, since the flood insurance is sold by the insurance companies, but is backed by the US Treasury.William Foster said:Genuine question...what do they do with a town like that? There's a house on a slab in Clear Lake that flooded several times. The owner opted to raise it and install piers, slab and all.Emotional Support Cobra said:
This is what happened after Harvey-any rebuilt home is 4 feet higher than it was before. My parents home was one of the tallest on the block. Survived Harvey and is now one of the shortest. The new homes all look like monoliths but will withstand the next cat 4 probably.

It also included the two-car garage that was not detached. He did not take the garage doors out and brick up the entrance, just lifted everything in place. Now there are two garage doors several feet in the air with no ramp to them.
