How long until they are a protected class and it's no longer illegal?

I might be OK with labeling people as MAP in the same way we lable people with drug addictions, xtreme pyromaniacs, homicidal tendencies, or major schizophrenia problems. It is perfectly acceptable to diagnose people with a dangerous mental disease, help them seek treatment, and protect society from their choices.

I agree that there is a distinct difference of having an urge and acting on the urge. While I could never understand this urge, I also couldn't understand the urge to use meth.

I just don't see a gathering helping these people. Send in project veritas and lets see if they are discussing how to help each other to deal with their urges or if they are teaching each other how to act on these urges while avoiding detection.

Well don't these people, assuming they've committed no crimes, have the right to free speech and assembly?

Personally I don't think people pick who they're attracted to, so the idea that someone could naturally be attracted to people under the legal age seems plausible to me. Not that it would make any kind of sexual contact with them legal, just that attraction alone shouldn't be criminal.

I don't think that was what the clip in question showed. It seemed to me the City official was hoping to prevent any possible violence against the people attending the meeting, which is absolutely a legitimate goal.

What is the purpose of these groups? If the purpose is to make themselves feel "normal" and that they're thinking is "right", then we have a huge problem.

They are FOR SURE acting on it....through pornography which will ultimately lead to the real thing.

I do I have some sympathy for those who have never acted upon the urges and do not want to. Many of them were probably abused themselves. It would be horrible to go through life with a desire to harm others, and have to constantly fight against yourself to not do it. At least they know it is wrong, but they should still be isolated from society until such time as a way is developed to fix their broken brains. If physical castration removes the urges, that's a completely acceptable solution, but it likely wouldn't for most.

As for anyone who has harmed a child, well hunter2012 already posted the correct punishment.

As for this meeting, as the OP noted, this is not a support group like AA where they're trying to prevent themselves from ever acting on the urges. This is them planning to try to legitimize their perversions and eventually push to legalize pedophilia and/or discussing how to avoid getting caught. It is a certainty that many if not all of them in attendance are already guilty of a crime.
