If Alabama beats Georgia by 1 point, then georgia says "let's play again", and Alabama says "nah, we good", everyone in the country would call Bama out for being afraid to play Georgia again.
But, you guys that say there's nothing to win by Trump agreeing to another one? Really…? At this point in the campaign season, optics are all that's left.
Running away from Harris, whom Trump has called a low IQ loser for weeks, would make Trump look like the big, tubby ***** that Democrats claim him to be
Nobody cares what the candidates say, but you bet your ass that Independents would care about him chickening out

So basically Trump looks like a coward because he got cooked in that debate. I'm on the fence if another debate would be a good idea for Trump anyway. You don't want an even worse image of him that close to the election. People will soon forget about how bad he was in this debate.
But...but F16 told me he won and none of this happened.

Kind of like all the libs on here refusing to debate policy.

Trump threads people out in force.

Policy discussion everyone avoids. This is our country at its finest.

Smart move by Trump

Agreed. Every time he has a national stage he loses support. He's a train wreck. He needs to hide.

Of course he won't. He knows he felt powerless on that stage. Reduced to an incoherent mess by a woman (of color to boot).

It is the only way for him to stay on message (as much as possible. In an echo chamber.

Problem is that he's not running to be a dictator people will be challenging him, to his face, as President. Is he going to get his feelings hurt and rant about ai crowd size, eating dogs and other bananas conspiracy theory he "sees on TV"

This is a win for his team as they figured out a way to control him. He might not be in a basement but doing rally's, calling in to Fox/Newsmax and going golfing 4+ times a week is basically the same thing.

He would never be given a chance to set the terms.
His response to Kamala's offer of another debate should have proposed the terms. The WSJ reached out to his campaign, and they could have offered terms. What do you mean, he wouldn't be given a chance?
If he were to respond with terms, anything he offers up as a requisite to debate would be shouted down from Kamala and literally all of her media surrogates as unfair. Then when Trump is unwilling to change his ask and "meet in the middle" he would be accused of being a coward or loser or whatever despite Kamala being the one that would be demonstrating an unwillingness to debate.

Way easier to just skip all that and get to the inevitable end result and keep campaigning where it matters.

And just for a thought experiment - One of Trump's terms would likely be that the debate needs to be on Fox News with moderators that he picks. How do you think the Kamala camp would respond to that?
So what? If in your view, either route results in no more debates, then only a bonehead would choose the options that make him look cowardly.
HA - Ya ok maybe he should just go the typical GOP route and let the democrats hand pick the moderators and get the questions in advance.

Cowardly? Get out of here. The way ABC did the debate vs Kamala was a disgrace. Any liberal news network would do the exact same thing. And there is 0% chance that Kamala (one of the worst public speakers to ever run for President) would ever agree to a debate on a non-heavily Liberal leaning MSM network.

There's also nothing Trump can do that would make the MSM not call him cowardly (and racist and hateful, etc). This isn't new. Who cares

No he doesn't. He has proven that he is unwilling to prepare. He is bad in debates more often than not.

The Republican party reminds me of the British Army fighting the US in the Revolutionary War. Very proper, very uniform, full of principles...then getting shot from behind the trees and cliffs by a bunch of people who just want to win.

I bet he'll circle back and accept a second debate.

His ego won't be able to handle libs and MSM calling him a coward.

Will just be a repeat of a rigged debate. Coward?? Hardly. All of these coward comments are just stupid. The only real coward is Kamala who refuses to do a debate on a level playing field.

So what support did he lose in this last debate because the polls aren't showing that he did?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think this is a bad move. Her team immediately called for a second debate. He could have quickly followed that up with, 'ok, I have secured a debate on Fox News....see you there.'

And on Fox News there would be no chance she receives the questions beforehand or moderators that blatantly stick up for her.

You mean vs Joe? Good point. He did gain support after that one. I was overstating it and good call out. He has increasingly become a liability when he gets a stage. His age and lack of self restraint are showing more and more. He really should hide or even better show out but actually be coherent, which I think we all know is impossible for him.

There is a 0% chance that Kamala would accept a debate on Fox News.

And the rest of the MSM would never even think about holding her accountable for it.

And then Trump would refuse to come off his demand for Fox News only.

And then he would be called a coward for not wanting to do it on another network.

We are at the same result.

He does just fine dealing with other leaders. Way better than Biden or Kamala (your girl).

But debates are his kryptonite. Especially rigged "ambush" debates. That debate was super rigged. Only the lowest of T liberal male feminists would disagree. They accomplished their mission the other night...in hindsight, he should have never agreed to that debate, but I have a theory that the surprisingly fair one with him and Biden may have got him to let his guard down.
dirtylondrie712

Her campaign immediately said they would like to do another debate. This is pretty simple.....

"Ok, you want another debate. I've done one on CNN and another one on ABC. I will see you in _____ on Fox News and we will have another debate."

If she backed out of that, she looks weak, and that might hurt her more than a poor debate performance.

Trump proposed 3 debates. That is fairly normal. They were to be strategically balanced across topics and networks. The Harris campaign rejected that. Now Harris is looking to tactically add a debate.

These things are planned for far in advance. Early voting starts in some states within a week.

Chaos theory.

He should have never agreed to do the earliest presidential debate ever (in June) vs Biden either. It was very obvious to a lot of people why that was being done.

I think independents will sit it out, instead of vote for him. Yes.
Just the same, if Harris had continued to duck a second debate, independents she expects to win over would sit at home, just as well.
Optics and momentum. The rest is just political theater

And he should invite her two Moderators to stand on either side of her at the podium, so he can re-debate all three again.

Why should he do FOX, he disdains them for calling AZ too quick in 2020....

He won the debate, don't care what some of you idiots say about it, so why should he give her a mulligan.

But if he were to grace her with another bite at the apple...maybe on NewsMax!

I agree he does not handle it well when fact checked. That triggered him as much as Kamala did imo.

For the record he got fact checked 3 times Tuesday. She got FC once.

He got 5 minutes more talking time and got the last word on a topic roughly 80% of the time. It's why they kept saying to him "we need to move on". It was because he had spoken last or was continuing on the previous topic.

As far as having the questions beforehand. She did. So did Trump and me and you…

What political strategist couldn't have predicted and prepared for the topics of the questions being the Economy, Border, crime/Policing, foreign Wars, China/Russia/Iran, Abortion, J6, Healthcare, Entitlements. Once asked they can take those general topics wherever they wanted (and did) regardless of the specifics of the question.

He doesn't like to or feel he needs to prepare, study or learn. He honestly believes everything he thinks and says is brilliant and no one ever tells him anything different so it is "reasonable" for him to infer that.

Debates against a prepared and competent opponent is not his best forum. I applaud him for recognizing that and putting his ego aside (going to be a lot of coward talk) to make this smart and strategic decision.
