So basically Trump looks like a coward because he got cooked in that debate. I'm on the fence if another debate would be a good idea for Trump anyway. You don't want an even worse image of him that close to the election. People will soon forget about how bad he was in this debate.

Smart move by Trump
HA - Ya ok maybe he should just go the typical GOP route and let the democrats hand pick the moderators and get the questions in advance.P.H. Dexippus said:So what? If in your view, either route results in no more debates, then only a bonehead would choose the options that make him look cowardly.Ag13 said:If he were to respond with terms, anything he offers up as a requisite to debate would be shouted down from Kamala and literally all of her media surrogates as unfair. Then when Trump is unwilling to change his ask and "meet in the middle" he would be accused of being a coward or loser or whatever despite Kamala being the one that would be demonstrating an unwillingness to debate.P.H. Dexippus said:His response to Kamala's offer of another debate should have proposed the terms. The WSJ reached out to his campaign, and they could have offered terms. What do you mean, he wouldn't be given a chance?Ag13 said:
He would never be given a chance to set the terms.
Way easier to just skip all that and get to the inevitable end result and keep campaigning where it matters.
And just for a thought experiment - One of Trump's terms would likely be that the debate needs to be on Fox News with moderators that he picks. How do you think the Kamala camp would respond to that?
jt2hunt said:
So what support did he lose in this last debate because the polls aren't showing that he did?
There is a 0% chance that Kamala would accept a debate on Fox News.dirtylondrie712 said:
I think this is a bad move. Her team immediately called for a second debate. He could have quickly followed that up with, 'ok, I have secured a debate on Fox News....see you there.'
And on Fox News there would be no chance she receives the questions beforehand or moderators that blatantly stick up for her.
He does just fine dealing with other leaders. Way better than Biden or Kamala (your girl).redseven94 said:
Of course he won't. He knows he felt powerless on that stage. Reduced to an incoherent mess by a woman (of color to boot).
It is the only way for him to stay on message (as much as possible. In an echo chamber.
Problem is that he's not running to be a dictator people will be challenging him, to his face, as President. Is he going to get his feelings hurt and rant about ai crowd size, eating dogs and other bananas conspiracy theory he "sees on TV"
This is a win for his team as they figured out a way to control him. He might not be in a basement but doing rally's, calling in to Fox/Newsmax and going golfing 4+ times a week is basically the same thing.

If Alabama beats Georgia by 1 point, then georgia says "let's play again", and Alabama says "nah, we good", everyone in the country would call Bama out for being afraid to play Georgia again.
But, you guys that say there's nothing to win by Trump agreeing to another one? Really…? At this point in the campaign season, optics are all that's left.
Running away from Harris, whom Trump has called a low IQ loser for weeks, would make Trump look like the big, tubby ***** that Democrats claim him to be
Nobody cares what the candidates say, but you bet your ass that Independents would care about him chickening out
normalhorn said:
I think independents will sit it out, instead of vote for him. Yes.
Ya I'm sure MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, Taylor Swift, etc would be lining up to call her weak.dirtylondrie712 said:
Her campaign immediately said they would like to do another debate. This is pretty simple.....
"Ok, you want another debate. I've done one on CNN and another one on ABC. I will see you in _____ on Fox News and we will have another debate."
If she backed out of that, she looks weak, and that might hurt her more than a poor debate performance.
This is the way.deddog said:
He should set his own terms, on Fox News.
Otherwise she can GTFO

Read my comment again. I didn't say independents will flip to support her
They'll choose to skip the poll lines altogether
BREAKING: ABC whistleblower allegedly will release an affidavit claiming the Harris campaign was given sample questions that were “essentially the same questions that were given during the debate,” as well as assurances that Trump would be “fact-checked” and she would not.

Why should he do FOX, he disdains them for calling AZ too quick in 2020....deddog said:
