Gee, I wonder where all those black people in Jamaica came from?
Kamala's ancestors brought them there as slaves.
Her white slave-owning and slave-raping ancestors? Those ones?

Blacks bought, sold. owned and raped black slaves too.

Doesn't make it right, but it is NOT just a white thing.

That's fair. I suppose he could have elaborated and said something like I believe in the values of Martin Luther King Jr and a merit based society and then pointed out to the questioner that she got zero votes and didn't even make it to Iowa and then turned it around on the *****y interviewer and asked her if that's considered DEI or not and watched her further meltdown.

Yes, yes, I see it now! It's not racist to mock a mixed person for not being a real member of the race they identify as. Why would I even think that? The real racists are the ones who think it's ok for mixed race people to identify with both of the races and cultures their parents come from.
She DOESN'T ALWAYS claim she's mixed.

She claims one, casting off the other to her (and other liberals) benefit.
Cite your sources. I've never seen her deny being mixed race. Her saying she's black doesn't mean she isn't also Indian and vice versa. She's both.

Why do you think this is a gotcha? She's introduced as "the first Senator of Indian American heritage in the history of US Senate." They're highlighting her Indian heritage because nobody with that heritage had served in the US Senate before. They don't say she doesn't have any other heritage. If no African American had served in the US Senate before, they might have highlighted that too. Heritage isn't exclusive these days.

It's not a gotcha, it's a shift in her marketing.

Of course she's part Indian.

She's not an African American.

She's Jamaican-Indian American.

Now she's being touted as a Black candidate.

It's really not that hard.

It's almost like she's all of those things…..

She's a bad candidate. Fumbled the border, would actually try and do some of the crazy liberal stuff that Biden wasn't liberal enough to do when he had a slim congressional margin like end the filibuster to pack the court or pass the green new deal.

Every sound bite he puts out about race BS plays to her advantage.

Wow. Mindy Kaling kept referring to her as the future President but sometimes called her Senator.
Obviously the fix has been in for a long time.

She's mixed race and can claim both sides. Who cares? She has black heritage and grew up in the US so saying she's African American isn't a stretch. She certainly wouldn't have been able to eat at a whites only restaurant in 1958.

The point of the OP is not to determine the origins of all Jamaicans, but to point out that Kamala's father, Jamaican born of Irish and Hindu parents, himself is not black or of African descent by presenting the video!

All of you guys bickering didn't listen to judge Joe Brown did you?

He knew Kamala's father and while he was born in Jamaica, he is a Caucasian man. In fact, you all are burying the big lede here in that his ancestors were Irish slave owners there. The only possible connection to the black race he has was that one of his ancestors slept with a "smarmy" maid there once.

Great post OP!

If you're not saying she sometimes claims she's not mixed race you don't even have a point other than whining she sometimes identifies as black and sometimes identifies as Indian. Which I do not have any problem with whatsoever because both can be true at the same time. Yes, sometimes one is more relevant to the conversation than the other.

Indians are considered Asian and white adjacent in the racist leftist identity hierarchy so they have a lower victimhood status than blacks persons. You get a higher default status on their hierarchy of bigotry and bias if you claim African heritage than Indian/Asian heritage. It is that simple.

I'd be curious if the media don't start subtly altering video and photo color saturation to make Kamala appear to have darker skin. They do that sort of thing regularly.

You might be interested in this article written by Donald Harris in which he talks about his upbringing and family. He very clearly does identify as black in this article. Also included is the picture below of Donald Harris' grandmother who he calls one of the most important influences on his life.

I think the issue is that she marketed herself essentially exclusively as being of Indian descent through her rise in California politics. She clearly has some African ancestry as well, but the morphing public image as being now primarily an African American is just a dishonest shift because she realizes/her team has ordered the change to manipulate the black vote as much as possible.

And Trump is polling something like 27 percent based on what I read this am nationally among blacks so his attacks on this change, highlighting she certainly wasn't proud of/claiming to be black for most of her career, probably will help, imho.

Did you even listen to Judge Joe? He knows her father who is Caucasian and is descended from Irish who lived in Jamaica as slave owners. His whole family is white minus one maid - who I'm assuming is in the picture.

My point is. That she often claims one when it is to het benefit.

1st BLACK vp is vase in point.

There is some discrepancy as to whether her father even claims to be black.

If HE is not black, how can SHE be black?

One drop? Do you claim.your one drop? Do you benefit from it?

Lost in all the genealogy and history are two important facts:
  • Kamala will both gain and lose votes based on how important her "blackness" matters to each individual voter. Her racial heritage will hurt her with some voters and help with others.
  • The opinions of non-black commentators (regardless of party affiliation) on Kamala's "blackness" are not going to be welcomed by black voters. It's up to them whether she's "black enough."
Trump and Trump supporters need to drop this and stay focused on her abysmal record.

Trump supporters are making fun of her over this. No one gives a **** what color she identifies as even though it seems to change every day.

But in today's world when you make fun of a woman or a person of color, you're automatically labeled misogynistic and sexist. It's absolute bull*****

Her record is abysmal and she's a horrible, stupid person who clearly was given advantages in life she didn't deserve. And then when given those opportunities completely **** the bed every time. The thought of this imbecile being the president is truly disgusting.

We all get that, but we can also make fun of her along the way. The two are not mutually exclusive. There isn't anything to drop.

2010 - Kamala Harris: Democrats' anti-Palin

Quote:

At first glance, the president and Harris have much in common: Both are mixed-race children of immigrants raised by a single mother; both are eloquent, telegenic big-city lawyers with strong liberal credentials who catapulted from relative obscurity to the national stage. And like the first African-American president, Harris has broken a long-standing barrier she's California's first African-American attorney general and the first woman to hold the office.
2015 - How race helped shape the politics of Senate candidate Kamala Harris
Quote:

"My Indian mother knew she was raising two black daughters," said Harris, whose birth in 1964 came two weeks before Californians voted to allow racial discrimination in housing. "But that's not to the exclusion of who I am in terms of my Indian heritage."

I disagree with the idea Harris has only recently presented herself as black. Above are examples.
