Look, I agree it's silly to add break dancing to the Olympics but there are plenty of events that are subjectively judged: gymnastics, dressage, synchronized swimming...

The olympics was founded on friendly competition between individual and tribal rivals based on useful skills.
Running, jumping, throwing, wrestling, etc.

Competition that requires measurement, timing, or scoring is directly in the spirit of the original founding of olympics.

How does diving fit in with any sort of practicality, other than just the wow factor (like a beauty pagent)?
