More importantly, who's driving the boat for the next 5-6 months? Certainly not Biden, although it never was. This just emboldens our enemies more.

Just have Tulsi Gabbard coach Trump for the debate.

She is still holding Harris' beating heart from that 2020 debate.

This is turning in to the 2nd best scenario for Trump. The best would have been if Biden stayed in of course. It is Trump's election to lose now and he can definitely still lose it but things do line up for him really well.

Positives for Kamala:
Age and health
Woman and minority
Media fawning over her
Rapid consolidation of the Dem power brokers behind her
Currently VP and can use all the trappings of office to look more Presidential
She has a free hand to pick her VP and be strategic

Those are all legitimate pros and they can't be taken for granted and I hope Trump does not.

The negatives are massive for her though:
She's an idiot who makes Veep look good
She has that annoying cackle and outside of liberal women people hate her
She is directly connected to Biden's record and has to run on it
While the power brokers are behind her the Party isn't yet and I don't know that she can get the rank and file on board
This process just feels wrong without votes or even the ability to influence delegates, even for most Dems that are used to doing whatever is necessary this is not going to sit well
The way this process has played out has been incredibly damaging to the Dem Party and to her and they can't make it all just go away

In the end the Dems are still in total chaos and are very close to just chalking up the L for the WH and focusing on the down ballot and every man for himself mentality. The biggest problem they have though isn't any of that. The biggest problem they have is the assassination attempt on Trump humanized him and united the GOP fully behind him as well as gaining him a lot of crossover support. Still enough time and opportunity for the Dems to turn this ship around but it's going to take Trump making a mistake for that to happen.
This reeks of the 2016 election with the superdelegates that put their thumb on the scale for HRC to screw over Bernie.

Not really much different here - the party elites are picking the candidate, not the voters...
Exactly. Bernie got screwed over in '16 and '20 by the process and a lot of folks in the Dem party have hard feelings about it. This just proves it is how it will always be. Some of those folks will just check out and not vote over this.

What kind of nation do we live in where someone this dumb can be the VP and seems to be the candidate for president this time?

She is so dumb she doesn't realize how dumb she is. She actually thinks she is smart.

Hell, even the 3rd world nations are run by smart despots. That's how they got the position. Putin and Xi are tyrants, but they are smart tyrants.

We might end up with a dumb laughing hyena at the helm of the most powerful nation on earth.

I'm glad I lived most of my life in a different era. We are living in Idiocracy now.

Correct. Although he was able to control himself when Biden was goading him.

I think Trump absolutely sucks at debate, but Kamal is so freaking stupid that Trump will win unless he has a stroke.

Re: "She has no accomplishments whatsover. Her only "job" as VP was border czar and that's one of the biggest issues facing this country."

I believe her only real job as vp per the Constitution is to break tie votes in the Senate.

The press at one time promoted that she bested the great John Adams' number of tie-breaking votes. What an accomplishment for harris.

harris has a big bag of nothing, but the complicit, cheerleading press will do their best to make her the chosen one.

Super Delegates probably won't come into play this year. I would bet that Kamala has enough delegates after the first round of voting. Super Delegates aren't allowed to vote until the second round.

Kamala will "win" the debate.

It will be a "historic" debate with a black woman with amazing "accomplishments" stood up bravely to the patriarchy of a racist, evil, corrupt and xenophobic white man.

Kamala is full of hope and change. Trump is evil and white.

I think the dem shot callers (not Jill) and donors are probably also thinking about the wider admin. Lots of crappy Biden picks that may stay in with Kamala. A new fresh candidate at top of ticket brings in some new key staff. Much of them will be recycled regardless, but they can also get rid of some Biden baggage left behind.

Lots of time, even if Obama and Jeffries endorse Kamala, the DNC might leverage the "open" "transparent" messaging to re-evaluate and swap. I don't know if they can cheat enough for Kamala to win, and she is def not better debater than non-Biden alternatives right behind her on the odds list.

1) so the fact she can choose a VP candidate from a swing state

2) and is not an 82 year old with dementia

that doesn't make her a stronger challenger than BIDEN?!?!

I simply can't fathom this logic. can you actually explain using a fact to support your hypothesis?

She's wildly unpopular, competing with Hillary for most unlikeable (who did lose to Trump).

She has no accomplishments whatsover. Her only "job" as VP was border czar and that's one of the biggest issues facing this country.

Also there are many men who simply won't vote for a woman. I know that's sexist but it's the truth. With Biden they just assumed the puppet masters were calling the shots and they were fine with that but with Kamala, she could go rogue and do you think people will vote for her to be Commander in Chief with global conflicts around the world?
Aside from how much of an empty suit she is, she's fake and only true believers overlook her lack of authenticity. Further she's condescending and arrogant which for someone as dumb as her, is really a bad combination.

Further and maybe most damaging, is the fact that Trump can still hang Biden's terrible record around her neck. If someone else took the nomination, it would be more of a "clean break" from Biden's terrible policies and record (although any Dem would be just as bad).

Also the Dems have an RFK Jr problem if he doesn't somehow come back in the fold and continues to run as a 3rd Party. I can see him peeling off some votes from people who won't vote for Harris.

I know I'm quoting my own post but one more thing that Trump can use against Harris is she knowingly lied about Bidens condition for at least the last two years if not since they won. A lot there that could make an effective attack ad.

This is further evidence D's aren't playing 4D chess as some want to believe. They are in a real pickle. No sane D wants her as the nominee. She's getting support now to stop the bleeding and give the perception they aren't in complete disarray. They need to try and preserve some down ballot races from becoming even further in jeopardy. She may well still end up being replaced. And don't expect everyone to line up behind her (ie Obama). They don't want to tie their political capital to her, at least not yet.

She has the same liability as Oldfinger: the Biden record as President.

Few people in this country have not been negatively impacted by Biden's domestic and economic policies.

As we have seen before, Cacklelackey is in no position to defend that record against Trump or anyone else.

So far 1746 delegates have pledged their support for her and that doesn't include superdelegates. She needs 1976 to win on the first ballot. Assuming those numbers hold, she only needs to pick 230 delegates out of the remaining 2200.

And those aren't all party elites. Delegates are often regular people that work other jobs but volunteer for their local and state Democratic Party. Your local precinct chair could be a national delegate just as easily as a so called elite.
