They were literally just renovating the Hooters here in Corpus a couple weeks ago. It had been closed since covid.

For all that Hooters was, it now is that place the older generation uses to go to when they were younger.

There's so many better options now, and the newer places even have food that you'll actually enjoy eating, or so I've heard.

I think I've eaten at a Hooter once in like 15 years. Just remember it not even having big screens. That may have changed, but seems they completely missed the idea of it being a wings, knockers, and sports bar & restaurant.

It's sort of an older dude concept to begin with. Dudes in their 20s getting the real thing so don't need a place like Hooter's, older dudes aren't as often so choose to go.

I loved hooters in my 20's. Loved dating the waitresses. My friends did too.

Lot's of restaurants try going cheap on ingredients. Hooters may have been a distraction for some years but places like Twin Peaks have superior food

The dudes who "should" be at Hooters have been able the view T&A at their own will on their phones. Nobody went to Hooters when I was a young 20 something for the food. We went there to drop the silverware or to witness a friend standing on a chair for an embarrassing birthday song.

It should be no surprise that this is a failing business model.

I'll add, if you couple it with rising costs... this is an easy trip to cut out.

Someone took their concept and made it better/adapted to cultural norms.

I always loved hooters wings but don't let John Daley and nostalgia take over your daily decisions sir. Twin peaks food is actually a full menu that is solid. I know several family's that pick it up (breast raunt or not!)

ETA: my point is don't be silly and let this be a hill you die on. Hooters and botching about it on TAs? Not a great way to go imo

Competition ultimately did them in. Also, their competitors got smart. Twinpeaks and Bombshells hire "cast members", not servers. It allows them to have more stringent rules on appearance and not get hammered by law suits.

That's really what did Hooters in. Also, the Bombshell owners are ruthless. They targeted Hooters locations and found the closest available real estate.

Was at a little dive bar in Waco yesterday and a former hooters bartender was in training. Couldn't imagine her being in those rediculous outfits…

I was last in one about 10 years ago (in Frisco), and was grossed out just watching them heat frozen wings from a bar seat. Horribly unsanitary/filthy operation/kitchen.

The whole place was just too dirty to go back to (was just drinking a beer), let alone order their food products. Not sure if it was just that franchise or all of them, but I am not surprised they are closing a lot of them.

First off, Hooter's is such a sketchy place. I get the idea behind breastaurants and that a certain kind of dude love them, but--especially Hooter's--feels so dirty. I can't tell you how many sailors I knew who got arrested at a Hooter's. Seriously lost count.

On the business end, Hooter's has seen its market share walloped by classier, more sports-focused establishments like Walk-On's (which offers far superior food options, a television setup, and a location to clientele). Buffalo Wild Wings has ripped a lion's share away through its focus on atmosphere and sports.

I'm surprised any of the Bombshells are still open. If there isn't a shooting, it's a stabbing, or drug deals, or drunk drivers leaving the parking lot and running into cop cars. They just attract model citizens for some reason.

Hooters wages also likely have to compete with money able to be made just by posting your boobs in tight shirts on instagram where you dont even have to interact face to face with the people leering at you

The last time I was in a Hooters I was waiting for my truck to get worked on.

Wings were ok, beer was cold, TVs weren't that large (ok it was 10am there was nothing on), but the staff was... underwhelming.

I tried Bombshells when I first moved back to Spring about 6 years ago... Tatted up gals with thick makeup caked on and painted, and long spiky finger nails. I chugged my beer and left.

I still like BWW but man-oh-man they've gotten expensive. Go to Walk-Ons more.

Part crap economy with even more suffering in the service sector. Part Gen Z has been raised on porn on demand. Seeing some cleavage at a restaurant ain't working for them.
