Serious question. Why wasn't this job given to the SeaBees?
Because Joe Biden thinks a SeaBee is what truckers use to talk to one another on our highways.A_Gang_Ag_06 said:

I really hate having only BK on military bases. They are horrible.
Because they probably told them what a terrible idea it was and refused to be associated with it.A_Gang_Ag_06 said:

This has massively exposed our militaries, specifically the Army's inability to move equipment across the sea. Sal has covered these short comings in detail on his YouTube channel, "What's Going on with Shipping."
The Army and Navy have seen huge cuts in their ocean going tugs and heavy lift capabilities. Heck one of the cargo ships suffered an engine rim for shortly after leaving the US and had to return for home!

This shouldn't be on Joe. This directly correlates to the deterioration of our military. You think somebody in the military should have said "we don't have the technology" before we failed?
So whose dumbass idea do you think this was?

The DoD has $797.7 Billion in discretionary spending. Roughly $256 Billion of that is allocated to the Navy. The dock, if it did cost $320 million, only accounted for 0.125% of their budget, which I doubt it did, as the funds probably came from some other part of the NDA Fund.
What everyone forgets is once Congress makes the budget and the President signs it, it has to be spent in the way it was authorized. The money was going to be spent on the military in one way or another. It's not like money was taken from the VA or Medicare.
If you are really going to get mad about "huge waste of taxpayer dollars" Then you should know Trump spent $72 million of your dollars golfing. The same person who infamously said: I'll be too busy to golf.

I was in law school when Carter tried that rescue of the Iranian Embassy hostages and it failed miserably. A low point for our peacetime military.

Actually, the "waste of money" aspect is just the cherry ontop of this turd sundae.
What I more take issue with is 1) why we even did it in the first place, and 2) now that we did, how it spectacularly failed, just like all its critics said it would.

The seas in the location where this was deployed were known to be in excess of the capability of the system.
The real question is if the military ignored the known limitations of the system and deployed it despite this in order to please the administration or if the administration forced the military to deploy the system despite the military's objections.
