I feel sorry for Griner and Griner's parents. Griner is obviously not XX or XY. As a parent, how in the world do you handle that?

While I do there is something very clearly "special" about her genetically, Britney Griner is not a man. My sister played basketball against her in HS asnd she talked like a girl and was even very nice...almost as if she felt bad for my sister who got dominated while attempting to guard her.

I truly believe she is just a giant lesbian with some hormonal issues or disorder...I have seen butch lesbians who have deep voices and can somehow grow facial hair...their voices would be that much deeper if they were actual giants too. She does keep getting manlier and manlier looking. People often mistake her protruding trachea in thes old pics for an adam's apple tho imo.

Agreed. On a spectrum, i believe she is more female than male. I do not believe she is a male with a dangling pen*s...but I believe she has many male traits. If hermaphrodites are real in our species, she may be one of those, but not sure I believe in them outside of reptilian/amphibious life.

She clearly looks like a freakishly tall female in her younger pics. A cute little innocent lookinig girl even, when she was little. Clearly more feminine than masculine...and this was before "gender affirming care".

So you are saying that they were raising this boy as a girl from birth, LONG before it was cool? I mean that was pretty much unheard of back then, but ok. But let's say, for the sake of argument, that this boy was literally raised as a girl since birth...should we not feel SOME sympathy for her? You know how jacked up a person would be? I can never forgive liberalism, but if she was politically neutral or to the right, shouldn't we feel sorry for her for what her evil parents did to her? i know an aggie physical therapist (some here know him too) that used to treat alot of her teammates in high school. he said they all swore that brittney was a dude. i believe the condition is called androgen insensitivity syndrome.

Many children are androgynous until the hormones hit. So I'm not surprised you dress an adolescent Griner up as a girl and Griner looks like a girl.

Im guessing that Griner was born with XXY or some other mutation, ambiguous genitalia, and the parents were forced to choose how to raise the child.

I suspect it was a terrible decision to make, and it held until hormones kicked in. At that point, greedy people decided to win basketball games

Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome

If AIS is the issue with Brittney, then it isn't the mild variety (MAIS) because Griner most certainly doesn't have male genitalia. Unlikely to be complete (CAIS) because then Griner wouldn't have the secondary sexual characteristics (Adam's apple, deep voice, etc.) that we've all observed.

So that leaves the possibility of Partial (PAIS) raised as a girl. This seems plausible to me as Griner could still have partial influence from the testosterone that is produced by the undescended testicles, but not have complete testosterone induced effects.

Interesting read. Had previously only known of CAIS, but had not heard that there were variable amounts of phenotypic effects. Again, it seems very plausible that Griner has (PAIS) and was raised as a girl...

Not sure (thank goodness), but having male junk would have had to have been noticed at some point, right? One of her dozens of former teammates/classmates would have said something I would think. But I've never been in a girls locker room so somebody else can enlighten us on that front. Maybe that's what the poster I responded to meant when the girls seeing the trainer swore that Griner was a boy.
