My son's middle school watches cnn 10 in his media class. I can't stand the commie news network, but my quick research on the topic, showed this channel to not interject politics into the stories. Even if it wasn't political, it is branding cnn as a name you can trust.

Anyway, my son came home yesterday and said cnn 10 had a news story on gays, trannies, etc. I feel like I need to say something to someone, or at the least, have my son opt out of watching this trash.

Does anyone else have experience with cnn 10?

I don't, but I'd go raise hell with the school board.

I found out about this in 2019. We moved out of Round Rock ISD and into a private school in Austin. It was the best parenting decision we have ever made. We get to choose the tv programing for our child.

Home school or charter school. If you can't be bothered to pull him out, then start getting other parents riled up and raise hell.

I watched a dozen or so episodes because my 11 year old watches it at school as well. I wasn't a fan for a variety of reasons (it brands cnn as a name you can trust, quite a few days had a segment that in some way tied to global warming concepts, etc) but the alternative was to isolate my child away from the rest of her class every day.

What day's episode had a story about trannies? I'd like to watch it so I can potentially pass that on to our superintendent as an example of the type of news I don't care for my children to be exposed to.

How about taking the television out of the classroom and let's teach them math, science and languages.

Did you know CNN is the enemy of the state?

My kids watch it regularly and tell me about what they learn. I will say it doesn't appear to overtly interject politics very often, and it does help them keep up with current events pretty well, which is something they wouldn't get otherwise. It has spurred some meaningful questions and conversations from them.

We have always told them to be skeptical with believing what they hear and to ask us about it to see if it's accurate, and they do talk to us about it regularly. I asked if they happened to catch the recent gay / trans episode and apparently their teacher had it off that day.

We teach our kids about politics and are very anti-left / anti-commie. I am fine with them watching it because I would rather them be somewhat informed on current events than be completely in the dark and oblivious to the world. It keeps them more up to date on current events than the Mrs.

If only we could have the state require schools to have Newsmax+ or One America News+ on the TV or nothing at all.

Should turn off CNN and listen to NPR instead, much less biased

You could look at the transcripts of the show each day at https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/sn. I glanced through yesterday's transcript and didn't see anything in regards to transgenders.

We watched Channel One news when I was in school. Is that still a thing? I was too naive at the time to recognize bias, but I'm sure it slanted left in the 90s.

Take your children out of government schools.

I'm going to stop calling them public schools, because they aren't controlled by the people.

They are controlled by the people. Unfortunately, too many of those people would rather ***** online or pay for private school than get out and participate in the process. We get the government we work for. Unfortunately, too many would sacrifice the government we get so that they don't have to be uncomfortable.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

There is a list of recent videos on their site and the bottom one is about transgenderism. I did not watch the video.

Spot on. And you can't even trust them to teach history correctly anymore. Sadly though, you could probably make it even simpler and teach only one topic: critical thinking. Most people can't make rational arguments or decisions. They can't apply logic to solve problems. This is why it feels like you're taking crazy pills when talking to them.

When you have caused such destruction of 1A and media alike, you lose forever the trust of the people and you should lose that. CNN, you will have to change your name and trick us that way. Sending your F16 posters to support you will not work.

No more ISDs. Support vouchers.

In your need to be a ***** I guess you missed where the OP specified a day. I didn't realize it was my job to check out everyday's transcript. I looked at the day the OP specified, didn't see the reference, and then provided a link to all transcripts. I did more than my due diligence so respectfully grow up.

He never specified a day in particular but keep defending CNN.

Like so many other institutions "the people" have outsourced to credentialism and those who have captured the institutions have established barriers to protect themselves. The common Joe doesn't want ****** books in elementary libraries, but nobody announces that they bought smut, access to the school is limited, and the school board (which has "prestigious" degrees) vouches for the librarian and says it's a great library.

It isn't the will of the people - it's the evil of the cultists taking advantage of the people's ignorance & passivity.

I will suggest that this statement could be hurtful to some that do not play the govt. isd education game yet play an important role in getting Good Guys elected to ISD school boards. Heck, some of these individuals even go out and campaign these school board candidates knowing there isnt a chance is hades they get elected because the incumbent is secretly the enemy of this nation.

Just because you don't utilize govt education does not mean you are not participating in the process. Also, property tax says you are in the game.

When I was covering the Chicago Democratic Socialists in the leadup to the '20 D primary, I interviewed one of the lead editors for Jacobin. They have this kinda edgy, far-left reputation in DSA circles. It was really interesting to hear their thought process, how they frame stories, and the varied political thought that exists even within that narrow band of American politics (ranging from general disillusioned Democrats to true believers). The purpose of the interview was to define the American version of "socialism", which never seemed to jive with the actual definition or the European version.

My favorite thing about my job is getting to speak with people who have viewpoints I disagree with or whose viewpoints I "don't get". It's a lot of fun learning about other people and meeting those who I'd otherwise never cross paths with. It's amazing how much you can learn over a beer.

I interviewed DSA people ranging from "I just think he's the best candidate" to one guy at a rally who, no joke, cried when he talked about how much he loved Bernie Sanders. Several months later, he was arrested for posting on social media after Bernie lost to Biden that he was going shoot the first cop he saw.

It's more passivity than anything. We can't keep blaming it on the "elite" or "educated" at this point.
