Can't imagine the wonderful, intellectual insight we would receive. Not to derail this thread, but have you seen this thread? Would love for you to read the election part of his comments.

I am not an attorney, but couldn't a case have been made that New York had no standing. Trump lost New York. If they want to say that the crime affected other voters in other states that is outside of their jurisdiction.

why isn't Trump attacking the jurors? He attacks the DA, attacks the judge. He must think it is a losing argument. Because his lack of attacking them is not because he thinks it is morally wrong, or incorrect, the man has no morals or honesty after all, we can agree to that.

Yes, I had seen that before. No surprise to either of us, I'm sure.

Gag order is probably still in play. He can't attack jurors or witnesses.

And no, I can't agree with your assertion he has no morals or honesty at all. He had zero to gain and everything to lose to run for the presidency the first time, much less the second time. He's doing this because he has a moral conviction to do it (he would be way, way wealthier if he had stayed out of politics).

Unlike 99% of those who go to DC, he has been made poorer from his time of his service, not richer.

i still fail to see how the account coding on an invoice from an attorney that was probably processed after the election affected any voters anywhere... all voters knew about the porn star, which wasn't a crime. i think bragg's prosecutors tried to say the attorney's invoice that was paid by and coded to legal fees at trump's company should have been paid by trump's campaign, but that affected zero voters in 2016. they just pulled a "show me the man and i'll find a crime" type of marxist political persecution. that's all this is.

He has referred to jury in broader terms as stacked against him due to the makeup of Manhattan voters. But I agree with Jonathan Turley yesterday, the jury here is really not to blame and I think Trump sees that. They were manipulated by a corrupt judge and prosecutor in league together to deliver a predetermined outcome.

It's either because the gag order is still in place, or someone was able to convince him that attacking the jury is incredibly stupid.

This.

It is a losing battle as well IMO. I am not excusing the jurors fully, but it could be argued they only followed the information they were allowed to consider via the instructions provided. Given a fair hearing, without so many reversible errors, allowing them to hear actual FEC experts, and some of them may have voted differently.

The focus should be on Brag, the Judge, the State, and the process.

While I am not prepared to let this jury completely off of the hook because they had to have some cognitive dissonance to hold Trump criminally liable for Cohen creating an emailed invoice from his law office, in the absence of an actual conspiracy charge within the indictment, Trump can't attack them due to the gag order.

I would say that is even worse. Stalinist.

A Biden donor judge. A DOJ prosecutor. In Manhattan. Two lawyers "randomly" on the jury.

Trump attacks at lot of people. political establishment and bureaucrat hacks, fake news members, hate-filled democrat politicians, rino's who he thinks wronged him.

...but the one who attacks half his own regular citizens regularly is this guy:

^ he's the one who says half of all americans are a dangerous extremist domestic terrorist cult and half of all americans are our greatest threat because they didn't vote for him. he's the one who put out pressers that he's losing patience with millions of americans who don't take experimental shots and said we are killing the ones who did by not taking it. he's the one who discharged military for not taking it. he's the one whose AG says moms at school board meetings are domestic terrorists. he's the one who opened our border up to cartels, gangs, criminals, terrorists - whoever wants to be here - sacrificing citizens' safety for political power. he's the one checking his watch when soldiers' bodies are returned home. he's the one whose DOJ is infiltrating catholic churches to root out "extremism".

maybe Trump knew how stacked that jury was against him and it's not these citizens' fault how people have become so programmed and infected.

Thank God we have a strong governor who endorsed DJT earlier on. He still stands with that endorsement and I believe will start the process of secession if we continue on this path.

The Supreme Court MUST intervene before sentencing or indeed it will get nasty.

So Trump is a convicted felon right now and until the appeal (probably until it reaches the Supreme Court and is out of New York). We all know this commie judge is gonna incarcerate him for some length of time. I'm finding it hard to see how Trump can run for the presidency. Can he do it from a jail cell?

Yes. Woodrow Wilson put Eugene V. Debs in prison. he still ran from prison and received about 3% of the vote.

A country in distress.

This kind of thing does those who actually served in wars and had a REAL need to fly it a great disservice. Those folks often died.
Uh, the greater disservice to those who died for a free country is what's happening under its current leadership and climate. But yes, let's get upset over someone posting an image of an upside down flag. Definitely the more important thing to be concerned about.
Cool. So go ahead and pick up a purple heart from the military surplus and wear it around. Ridiculous. And remember too that flying the flag upside down is what the liberal hippies did in the sixties. So guess you have that in common.
Uh, what does picking up a purple heart and wearing it around have to do with the current **** show going on with our country's leadership? You're just babbling and deflecting.

But hey, keep on showing more outrage over someone posting an image on a message board than what's actually happening in our country right now. You've clearly got your priorities straight.

Can I wear a purple heart for surviving a Texags ban.

Or is that a bronze star.

An absurd sentencing by Merchan could spur SCOTUS to get involved, I would think.

A suspended sentence with probation, no domestic travel restrictions would likely be innocuous enough. But jail, house arrest at Mar A Lago? Preventing him from campaigning? That might be too much election interference for them to swallow.

Can he even do house arrest in Fla. for a NY state crime? Who would monitor / enforce?

Yes. Make arrangements with the Florida correction/probation officials. Happens often.

Although, I suppose Merchan is looking into whether he can order house arrest at Trump Tower, which I think he can but NY law is so screwy I really don't know how that would work.

Every count was 12-0. A unanimous decision was required on all counts.

You are thinking of the "unlawful means." Unless the jurors tell people, we will never know. That is not documented as part of the Court's record.

But hadn't it been stated that unanimous was not actually unanimous and it just took 4?
They didn't have to agree on what the super-secret "other crime" was that Trump intended to conceal by his AP clerk classifying payments to a lawyer as legal fees, just that Trump was trying to cover up some other crime.
