This is really turning into a circus today. Multiple violations by the prosecution of court orders re: closing statements.

Do those matter for appeal, or not really since closing arguments are not evidence?
Rules only apply to the defense in this trial.

He can't have really made the old shooting joke, right? That is impermissible on so many levels which is why it is a joke.

Doesn't matter, jury heard it and probably laughed to themselves.

I was actually wondering if the defense might use this statement as to why he wasn't worried about Stormy affecting the campaign. Basically, it shows that Trump felt like his supporters don't care what he does. If he could shoot someone and they don't care, he could certainly have sex with someone and they won't care.

I do have a life outside of forum 16. The Hubs likes to eat late, so with the court calling it quits at 5:30 my time everyday, fit in with the meal schedule.

Already had left over flat iron steak, cheesy mashed potato casserole with bacon bits, garlic and scallions, fruit salad with fresh cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, blue berries, seedless red grapes, some sugar and fresh lemon juice for tonight.

Tomorrow? Time for the lasagna, Caesar salad and garlic bread with a great red wine. The Hubs prefers Merlot. My tastes are different on the wine choice but I don't mind. Eating a heavy savory lasagna like that I prefer a crisper tasting wine to help cleanse the palate. Pinot Noir or even a Pinot Grigio.

Only hope is Juror 1 or 2 holding out….will definitely be either a hung jury or guilty! You'd hope the two lawyers on there would see right through this, but I'd bet they go all in on guilty! (Jury certainly doesn't appear to be "impartial".)

I don't like that so few jurors have any children. They don't have family concerns that would understand Trump's concerns for his family.

After reading a little more detail about the jurors…1 and 2 along with 5 might give him a chance for a hung jury.

I can see the lawyers bullying/pressuring any holdouts into guilty votes rather quickly, hope I'm wrong.

Jurors 5, 6, and 11 will make sure there is no acquittal. Juror 11 at least gets points for honesty.

Juror 6 works for a broadcast company, female recent college graduate, gets news from NYT and social media.

You aren't ever going to convince me that Juror 5, a young black woman with a Master's in Education and a public charter teacher, doesn't follow politics or have political conversations and doesn't know Trump is facing other charges. She was probably out there rioting in 2020.

The question is whether the others will fight against a guilty verdict and get it to hung. I don't think they will.

This jury, with this judge giving insanely broad instructions in favor of the state, is going to convict.

How would the media possibly think that? I'm guessing just monitoring their reactions during closing?

This just feels like wishful thinking from whoever that is on Twitter.

Need to start an alternate verdict prediction thread. Still say guilty with only one chance at a holdout. But the overwhelming NY pressure and thought of living your life there when they all get doxxed will crater the last holdout. Guess how long it takes for them to come back with the guilty verdict.

My guess, and not being in the courtroom these are are really just wildass guesses by all of us:

Hung jury, one holdout. And that's probably a heavy dose of wishful thinking.

On the discretionary rulings and instructions, the court has gone with the state just about every time. He's also made several wrong rulings, the key one being improperly limiting in my view what evidence Trump could put on in terms of the FEC expert. The correct ruling wouid have been to say smith can't testify on ultimately whether the law was broken, but on the other issues he was concerned with take them up if and when they arose during the testimony.

His whole demeanor, which jury likely picks up on, is anti-Trump. Juries draw off a judge. When the judge is against a party, jurors usually fall in with that same sentiment.

Combine those and the jury pool, and that's not a good thing for Trump getting off

I'd bet that in all his other cases, merchan is pro-defendant and bends over backwards to let defendants put on the defense they want. Yet not here. Weird.
